Camo umbrella or other such device

I've got a feeling this year that I'm going to be either hunting a bunch in the rain or not hunting at all. Since not hunting is not an option, and since I hate hunting in the rain, I need to find a way to make it more comfortable.

I've got the clothing to stay dry so this isn't the issue. What I need is somethign I can put over my head when sitting in the boat just to keep as much rain off of me as I can. I'm thinking some sort of umbrella type of device. I've seen real colorful umbrellas that attach to the back of outdoor folding chairs that would work except for the color. Can't really paint an umbrella and still have it shed water and I'm fairly certain the paint would not last long being folding and unfolded a bunch of times.

Whatever I go with has to be tall enough to leave room between my head and the top of the umbrella device. It would also be great if it attched to my chair and it could swing out of the way when I wanted to stand up and shoot.

This would be cool but you have to buy the whole chair to get the umbrella and it isn't the right color.

Lot's of requirements huh.

Thanks for the ideas.

I looked a these tree umbrellas and they all have a big hole on the backside to make it fit around the tree. Unless I don't seee how they work, I don't think these will do the job.

Found a nice 60" umbrella with fake raffia on it. Looks like a Tiki hut. That would be cool.

Just buy a camo umbrella and rig up a holder in the boat. That way you can take it down and pack it away easily. I have one from BassPro that I use and normally just put the handle down the back of my waders or prop it up and when you raise up to shoot it just falls backwards.

"stuff an umbrella in your waders"

That would be the practical, easy way to do it. There has to be a more complicated, mechanically enabled method.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Wrong camo pattern Ed. Keep trying. I'm not picky, I'm particular.

Kidding, kidding. At one time a co-worker bought an umbrella that attached to the back of his fishing boat seat. Good size and very nice design. When he wanted to get up, he pushed back on the umbrella and it folded backwards. Very nice design and naturally I can't find it now and the co-worked retired many years ago.

I know what your looking for and I can't find it now either. There was also one Basspro sold a few years ago that attached to the base of a bass boat seat that was available in camo and I don't see that one offered anymore either.

You're good at modifying things. I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Here is a nice one but at $199+, don't think I'll be purchasing. Although if I painted it black and gray and white and put a goose head on one end, maybe it could also act like a really big goose decoy. Put a pull string on each of the tips of the umbrella and pull on them to make it look like flapping wings.

Someone used to make a nice one that was rectangular to use for a blind but didn't find that one in this search

Mark, I can solve your problem easily. Just move to the desert southwest.
