Can not figure it out!!

I did some scouting this weekend and found a spot that was holding a bunch of Cans, Ringnecks, Bluebills (there may have been others but that was all I could see through the glasses). What I can not figure out is WHY THEY WERE THERE. There is nothing special about the spot, it is not a point/cove that provides protection and the food is no different than anywhere else on the lake. I checked the lake depths and it is near a drop off but so are a lot of other places.

They may have just sat down there and will never be back but I'm going to have to give it a try.

Why don't the spots that look "ducky" ever pan out but blank spot like this holds birds?

I just hope the jerk who was running into coves and blasting did not spot them!! If I had the phone number to the game warden, I would of been calling.

well to me all the ducks you named are open water birds and prefer to stay out . there may be food there that they see and you don't

I am having a simular delema this year they have both seemed to spry all the marshs plus droped the water levels pretty darn low (unless you have a air to get to the water with) all where seeing are hugh numbers of mottles there in bigger groups and more talkitive this year but there doesn't seem to be much of anything else around in any real numbers
