Canadian Duck Hunt

I'm back from a two-day Canadian duck hunt combined with four days of Michigan Grouse and Woodcock hunting. Shot limits of Redheads, Cans, Bluebills. Hunting out of 24ft John boat over 200 decoys. The local guide agreed to allow me to hunt my 2-year-old Lad and she did great. It made duck hunting a lot more enjoyable.
The Grouse hunting was grueling. 4-6 miles every day for a total of 1 grouse and 1 woodcock. Again, hunted over my Lab and a partners Brittny. Ticks were horrible. The sunrise picture from our duck boat, is not actually the sunrise. The glow is 100 greenhouses growing pot and the glow of course are the grow lights. The red lights are hundreds of 300 feet tall windmills. 20251024_123142.jpg20251027_125827.jpg20251024_062401.jpg

Outstanding, finally someone posts some hunting photos!!!

Why was the grouse & woodcock hunting poor this year??

I wish I had an answer on the poor hunting. We were in Houghton Lake area and spoke to other hunters with the same result. Woodcock could just be we missed the migration. Some hunters were talking about the Avian Flue impacting Grouse. We even tried Meemo's Lodge one day with their guide and our dogs. Covered 5 1/2 miles and put up two Woodcock and one Grouse. If I do it again, I'm headed further north.

Some of my best memories as a kid were chasing woodcock and ruffed grouse behind my uncle's house in Northern Michigan, it was paradise.. Hate to hear the birds weren't there. Gorgeous country to be kicking around in the Fall!

Growing up in NE PA, I only caught a true flight of woodcock once, it's amazing to experience.
The pup still looks happy to be there!
