OK- the previous post was a test for me to see if I could figure out how to get a picture on a post! YAH! Now the story:
I have had labs all my life. Some have been better hunters than others, but they all have special places in my heart. The picture is of my current buddy, Canvasback Cassiidy.
On her sixth birthday, 10/26/2012 we were hunting on Rush Lake, near New York Mills, Minn. in Ottertail county. A flock of cans circled my decoys twice and came right in. You all know that feeling. What a majestic bird! I was able to drop both a bull and a hen and Cassidy was able to retrieve both! What a special moment that was! We used to expect the cans in our area right about October 20. Unfortunately with all the changes in flyways and duck numbers they just don't show up here that often anymore. Oh the "stories" my dad could tell about the fifties and sixties and hunting Cans in our area.
Anyway the picture shows Canvasback Cassidy ( actual registered name) and the ducks my buddies and I shot and she retrieved on her birthday. By the way, the herters Bluebills decoy in the picture was also retrieved by her (remember what I said about not being perfect)!
