Carving Video

Guys,

I was going through a bunch of tapes that I had sorting and loading some onto the computer and low and behold I came across a short video that I didn't even remember shooting. Unfortunately I shot most of it focusing on the decoys and not the people carving them. It was still neat to watch though and remember the guys in the video; these are a couple of the most respected carvers to hunt southern Michigan. I didn't edit the video at all because you only catch glipses of faces but enjoy listening and watching as some stories are told and some carvers enjoy working.

Hahaha, the box fan says "Huff," a t-shirt says, "Rutgers," and a voice sounds like Pauly. Now that's funny! Time for some summer carving;)

For the guys that don't know everyone in the video Mr. Lee harker was there along with Chuck Huff and ol Pauly Rutgers is the voice heard in the background; telling stories as usual. Hope everyone enjoyed catching a glipse of Mr. Harker and Chuck and I hope their watching us from above while carving and telling stories to each other.

Thanks for posting that Bryan, sure brings back some memories. Watched it a few times today, sure I will watch it more.

As I recall, Lee, Chuck, You, Me, Boutell, Rich Troutman for sure were there. I'm pretty sure Rich Hohler. I'm trying to remember if Brian F was there or Kubiak. Maybe Smitty and Pillars to? I can't figure out for the life of me who's wearing the Rutgers shirt. (after closer examination I realize it is Gerry Vanderweel) I want to say now that was 5 years ago?

Sadly, I can only wish that it was me... I never made it down to one of those early carving parties...

I'm ready now though!! Hope to see you all soon.

Best,
Brian F.

Brian,
Thanks for posting that video. It brings back great memories of the good times we had in the shop with a lot of great guys and the stories told and the decoys made. Its always good to get together with a group like this to share ideas and see what everyone is up to. I would encourage everyone to try to get a group like this together in your area even if its only a couple times a year. The memories you will have and the friends you will make will last a lifetime.
