Will be in Florida in a couple weeks.... family vacation. John Bourbon left some Florida hog shoulders and tenderloin with me, that was fantastic when I smoked it. So my wife suggested maybe I should shoot a couple when we are down.... this is sort of last minute, but maybe it will work.... any suggestions? Freelance or establishment. Not looking for wall trophy, just decent amount of meat for the freezer.

Dave.....you looking for a Guide or to do it on your own?....

On your own is limited this time of year since most of the public ground is closed...private you can hunt but you need a Guide...or access to the Private Land some other way.....if you're interested in a Guide let me know and I'll give you Scott Swartley's contact info....

Steve, on such short notice, I expect to use a guide or some established scenerio, unless someone knows someone who had a bunch making a mess and wants them thinned out.... so please forward anyone you would recommend.... I looked at the management area info on-line, and I think I would be OK as I will be down just before the Turkey season opens in the northern 2/3rds of the state, but to try that cold would be a real challenge. If I don't book something, I will at the very least do some on-site research that week, and prepare for next year.

Call Scott Swartley at 321-288-7350 ..... Scott will have hogs and while I'm not going to tell you that it will be a "sure thing" I'd bet you'll bring home meat.....add to that the fact that he has the ability to cool and butcher at his place...plus hold you're meat, (WOW maybe I'll call him-buwhahahahah), until you leave...and I don't think you can go wrong....
I'm outta here in a couple of weeks and back to Washington for awhile or I'd suggest we hook up....you came to Florida late this year......
Good luck...

Steve

I'd give a big thumbs-up to hunting wild boar. Great tasting meat and you'd be doing the area a service as the wild boar have gone amuck thoughout the Country. I hunted down in Texas on the Jambers ranch (15,000 acres) and took a great boar...and it was a challenge as well. I had a couple of the ranchers helping me as we hunted and guided down there as well.

Below: couple shots of the boar I took down in South Texas (Jambers Ranch)
Not far from Choke Canyon. One of the ranch hands is on the left and I'm

My son and I went to Little Lake Lodge just north of Lake O and had a good hunt around Christmas time. Shot a couple of nice sized hogs. They did a nice job of skinning and quartering them for us.
