Clear spray shield material?

I'm going to replace the spray shield on two of my layout boats and want to use a clear material.
I'm not sure what the original material is and am open to something new.

anyone have a preference and/or a source for a clear flexible and durable product.?

Thanks

Have you tried an RV center? Similar materials are used on some camper windows.

Also Lou Tisch may know, or Tony H. I know Tony used similar material on his UFO Layout Boat.

Flexible and durable are not easy to find together in clear vinyl material. LOL

We use 12mil for our spray shields. You can buy at any boat canvas shop in different thickness's. 12 seems to be what we find works best for raising and lowering. But it doesn't last for ever. sometimes 4-5yrs sometimes only 1. depends on end user and temps its being used in.

Excellent points! It took me three tries to find something that would last. Do ask about UV resistance when you are shopping for your materials.

Cheaper place to find the stuff is at places that make the "windows for restaurants. Material is called Isinglass and can be found online.

Yes, it can be made with tape. Years back, we had a program to develop Isinglass that stayed clear, never yellowed and was put together with tape. You just have to find a tape that works with vinyl and can handle the outgassing of the various chemicals used in the manufacture of the vinyl.

Here is one such place to purchase online

AS well as, the adhesive applied on tape's backing to stick in a variety of temperature regimens?

No problem here considering they make airplanes stick together with some of our tapes. Think of that next time you are at 39,000 feet and however cold it is outside the plane.
