Good luck Jay,

Opener here in the south zone of Texas...Anxiety is setting in...Will not be able to sleep.

Regards,
Kristan

Will have to see if this blow pushes any birds in or out. Been doing the north/south zone thing but it's always nice when your backyard opens!

Headed out tomorrow morning as well. This will be my 3rd hunting with my son and one of our pups first hunt.

Hoping for the best!

Just got the boat hooked up, loaded, and trailer lights checked. A couple of dekes to rig, set the coffee pot to brew and we are ready for a few hours of sleep.

Good luck to you all.

How did everyone do? We definitely were on the X this morning. My friends and I shot our black ducks quickly and got a rare for our area drake mallard to top it off. Flight ended really early.

Great shoot guys! It was pretty slow for us, saw some brant and had one flock of buffies come in, ended up scratching out a brant and a beautiful drake bufflehead

Black ducks for us, though we did get buzzed by a plane right as three mallards were locked up. They didn't care for that too much.

There were lots of birds around. Just not a lot moving. We did a good bit of scouting in the afternoon during the slow part. As we motored around we got plenty of ducks up and moving. Was a beautiful day to be out on the water. There were a lot of planes flying. More than I ever recall hearing or seeing.

My son and I saw some greenwings, a couple of pintail, one widgeon, and plenty of blacks. Also had a couple of flocks of Canadas in the marsh behind us. I think I saw a flock of Brant flying. I estimate the flock was about 150-200 birds. They were well south of us. Initially they looked to be a formation flying like Canadas, then they bunched up too much and became too disorganized for me to believe they were Canadas.

Little better conditions this morning. Not bad for an hour and 15 min hunt before work.

Nice job. Go figure it was worse for us in CMC this morning. Got our 2 blackies and 1 hooded. Did not see as much as Saturday morning.
