Converting/Rigging a fiberglass (Aeromarine) BBSB for sail.

Has anyone ever done this or heard or seen anyone doing this? Need to expand my range without gas or sweat. I figure the centerboard trunk and mast step would be the big jobs. Also wondering where sail plans can be found. I've sailed a lot and duck hunted a couple times. Maybe I'll do both?

Bill~

Here are some plans from Chappelle's American Small Sailing Craft (these plans from the Smithsonian are framed and hanging in our mudroom).

I presume you have a Tom Pryor 'box from Aero Marine? I do not know the boat very well - except that they were very well-made. I wonder about the after sections: Is she a true displacement hull or semi. The former would probably sail better.

Also, note how the daggerboard trunk is installed off-center, to one side of the cockpit. I think this was fairly common and makes sense from a space perspective.

Guthorn's book, too, has lots of info and pictures about Sneakboxes.

Hope this helps!

I had a feeling you would reply Steve, almost contacted you direct! It might be a displacement hull. I'll take some pics and email them to see what you think. My grandfather had that Chapelle book, it ruined me! I'll have to look for one and the other book looks interesting too.
The whole thing is still at idea stage but I finally have work space and time.....maybe. Thanks Steve!
