Cool auction on MLB site

The MLB, in our annual hunt, give back to the resource in the area we gather at. Last year we hunted at Long Point in Ontario. Long Point has a rich waterfowling history and has a very important eco system for ducks. This area is funded by membership and public donations. The guys that take care of it are mostly vollunteers and they do a super job. At our last day supper we usually have an auction or raffles with decoys, calls and other waterfowl related stuff to raise monies to help suppost the area we hunt. Last year we decided some of the money would go to the Longpoint waterfowl association and some would go to Bird Studies Canada (also located by Long Point) to sponsor a hen scaup sattelite transponder dealie so they can track and study and hopefully find out why the scaup are having problems. We set back several of the items donated by MLB members to raise funds for this in a later auction. Mark has just started the 1st auction over on the MLB site for this cause. This auction is open to all. Please check it out, and if you feel compelled...bid on an item. ALL money collected goes to the sponsorship of a hen. I'll try to do a link here now..and yes Dave I copy Pasted it..so here goes.

arrrghh.... Hmmm...finally got it work. Note;the auctions are on the same page as the ones for Chuck Huff's fundraiser..what is being auctioned off right now is a call by Bob Furia. I held this call and looked at it..it has duckheads around the center and sounds great..typical Bob Furia quality..the kind that makes ya say "DAYUMMM!"

Dear Lee and All,

Thank you very much!

We all love the ducks that the late Les Kouba called; "Feathered Jets". Les spent the greatest bit of his painting career, capturing the essence of the Scaup as he visited the Delta Marsh for inspiration.

And who can forget the works of Gordon MacQuarrie, and wonderful stories like; 'The Day the Bluebills Died'?

The fact is, the feathered jets are in trouble. Dr. Scott Petrie and his Team have invested a great deal of time and energy, studying the problem. I humbly suggest that you investigate their work, and what they are trying to accomplish.

In an effort to support their research, please consider having a look at the 3 auction items, and as Lee said, if you wish to bid, please do so. We'll use the money to fund a transmitter that will be strapped to the back of a Hen Scaup, in the next couple of weeks. We can all track her progress, and that of other hens that have been so equipped, as they make their way back to the breeding grounds this Spring.

Thank you for considering this, and a special thanks to Eric for allowing this post.

God Bless All,

Mark

Gents - I've stripped out references to the Chuck Huff fundraiser of last year, and I also pulled down all the old completed auctions, so it should be a little easier to figure out what's going on. Thanks to Lee for posting this notice, to Eric for giving us the opportunity to talk about it, and to all the folks who are bidding to help raise funds for this worthy cause!
