Matt is right on. I have kevlar tips on my drift boat oars which I had Sawyer do for me when they made the blades. I've worn through it several times and fixed it with glass but the difference between glass and kevlar is huge. That's a such a small application that you can get a tiny amount for cheap. The other option is to go to the oar and drifter manufacturer websites and look for plastic and rubber oar tip covers. They can be glued or epoxyed on and they're cheap. I don't lke the way they feel but that's on a drifter. If you do tiger/kitty hair or kevlar paint it a contrasting color like black and when you see the color wearing through you'll know it's time to patch up.

Dave:
I asked that same question here about a year ago and got drawings and suggestions how to make my own. Maybe, who ever made the drawers would do so again for you?

No Dave. Someone, in Canada I think, on this forum said he would make some but they never materialized. My dad had them on our boats when I was growing up---made of copper. Most oars today are not solid and have a tendency to split where the glued segments join at the tip. You might go back in the forum and find the drawings. I could use a pair also.
