Twenty minutes into the morning, I've already had a good day. All alone with only the ducks to keep me company. Had several groups of Bluewings landing in the decoys. Stay for a minute and then leave. Well most of them did that. [laugh]

Now Dani, please do not let this distract you from your work today. [ninja]

Finished out my limit with another Bluewing and a hen Gadwall.

The wind really kicked up before I got off the water. 29MPH sustained with 34MPH gusts angling in and across the boat ramp. You get one shot at putting the boat on the trailer ,,,,,,,,,,,,, nailed it! [w00t]

Awwwwww Dave you are so sweet to think of us poor working stiffs and sharing what fun you're having! Don't worry....I won't be distracted from work by dreams of watching teal buzz into my decoys and thinking how thrilled I'd be if I saw a widgeon come visit my decoys...well at least not for long....or at least not all day...probably...

That retirement life choose the weekday you want to go hunting sure is nice isn,t it!

Dave,
I used to be jealous, but today is my last official day as a working chump. Tomorrow I'll be retired!!!

Now, I just need to find your level of motivation to take advantage of all the new free time.

Best, Scott

Congratulations! That is awesome news. Now I'm expecting you to hunt/fish and play in the workshop through the week and rub it in just like Dave :) You guys played your cards right!

Eric

Thanks Eric! I need a work shop badly. I've got my Dads wood working shop stored in my daughter Meg's basement. Trying to decide if we are staying in this house or moving closer to the shore. We'll see but I sure miss not being able to run over and use the equipment. I will end up with a shop.

But I'm not trying to shanghai Dave's post. That's a nice bag of bluebills.

Scott

Harsh Dave, I'd be more offended, but I try to stay as far from work as I can. Now tell us about your aches and pains...

Tod,
A generous application of duck goes a long way towards easing the aches.

Great day Dave. I'm just a little jealous because my time is coming soon. [smile] Is the bird on the right a hen widgeon or a gadwall? Maybe just my old eyes playing tricks.

I believe you are correct. I misidentified before I shot and never looked closer. I did think it looked a bit odd when I picked it up, but just shrugged it off. Maybe I just assumed based on seeing several Widgen earlier this morning. You have a good eye, thanks for the correction.[smile] (I'll edit my post above)

This just means I'm more jealous than before. [mad] [;)] That trifecta of birds is one I rarely if ever see. Each individually is a bit of a trophy for me, all three is a heck of a day.

Sorry, Dave, but you have to admit you kind of stepped in your own turd on this one. Not that I'm laughing. I just wish I was at work tied to the computer today and I'd seen the pic first. Te he he.

Tod,

I got lazy. I do carry booklets for ID reference. Don't know why I didn't listen to the little voice telling me something was "off". I have an app on my phone for tree identification. Take a photo of a tree leaf and the app will identify the tree. Makes me wonder if such an app is out there for duck ID. It would certainly be handier to use than digging out a book.

You'll just have to practice your ID skills tomorrow. Whack a few, then post up a pic for those at work to critique and check your conclusions. You'll feel bad the entire time.

Heck with any conclusions. Pics with no captions. [whistle] Maybe I'll shoot a goose or is it a gander. Let them debate that one![cool]

Awwwwww now see Dave...if you had checked your texts, I had asked you if that was a widgeon masquerading as a gadwall for halloween shortly after you were done bragging about your limit. Then you coulda quietly edited your post and sorta saved face [;)]

Sounds like some hellacious winds that kicked up for your ride home. Maybe payback for teasing us poor working stiffs!
