Dasuquin for Dog Joints

Hi Guys,

I hope everyone's having a good summer. I've seen some very cool boats being built and some completed. Keep posting them.

Was wondering if anyone has had their dog on dasuquin to relief pain and strengthen joints and, if so, does it really help. For the past couple of years, my 8-year old american lab limps like an old man after a short play session that includes some short runs , but mostly swimming. Last year it seemed to be in his right leg. This year it's his left. It takes a day or two of rest before he's back to normal. My vet suggested dasuquin. Thanks for sharing any experience.

Larry,
Have you tried plain jane aspirin? NOT tylenol, just aspirin. It did wonders for my older lab, along with raw burger after hard hunts.

I have increased his protein. but i cook the burger. i've not tried asperin. i'm told the dasuquin actually helps to rebuild or strengthen ligiments and tendons. asperin wouldn't do that.

Moses has had a partial tear of the ACL for years. He is a house dog so I did not do the surgery.... on occasion he would limp, we would give him buffered aspirin for a few days and he would be good. Now at 12 yrs old, he gets 2 each day in a peanutbutter sandwich. Keeps him from getting stiff.

Hi Larry,
I have a 9year old that has had 2 cruciate(sp) surgeries. My wife works for a vet.
We trird a lot of things to keep the old man pain free and the absolute best results have
come from a product called PhyCox-JS. It is a combination of natural ingredients with
glucosamine. My guy was on three legs quite often a couple years ago before we found this.
We had him on Rimiadyl (much like the product you mentioned) and it was effective but extended
use is hard on their liver.(who needs further complications) We give the PhyCox-JS in soft chews
once a day and I can hunt him in easy cover a couple mornings a week without him getting crippled up.
My wife said they have had great success treating arthritic dogs with it at the clinic.
You'll have to get it through a Vet but it has been great for us.
Hope this helps, John
