Dave,

Thought you might be interested in seeing this. A guy who purchased a carving from me some years back, gave this to me when he picked up the bird. He found it at a flea-market and knew it corresponded to the year I was born. Pretty cool thing to have.... but what's all this talk about "the good old days" ?
Looks like most seasons were pretty short back then - even on the Left Coast.

Thank's Bob,

Boy doe's that bring back memories. I remember both the Duraduck and the Deeks brand of self-inflating decoys. They had metal rings in the bottoms and a small round teat in front that you would put a snall marble in and then tie the anchor line to. You would toss them up into the air so they would inflate on the way down. You could easily stuff a dozen of them in your coat pockets for those hike-in pond hunts.

We carried both brants when I used to work for Bob Ketcham's Sporting Goods back in the late '50's. I think we stopped selling them in the late 60's because the N&B Plasti-Duk decoys became so popular.

I see the Deeks are now back on the market, I think I saw them offered in a Cabela's catalog last season.

Thanks for posting.

Dave
