This Decoy Auction is for a Bill Hancock Ring Neck. A very nice looking decoy that will look great in your spread. Bill's bio is below along with a pic of the decoy. This auction will close on Friday night December 4th at 10pm central time. The winner will be responsible for contacting Eric to arrange payment, we will then have the decoy shipped out. Good luck and thank you for your generosity to this worthy cause.
I started carving when I was in high school, with help from my dad. As my dad was carving back in the 70's after taking a carving class that is no longer offered in Peoria. I basically picked it up from him. I started by carving decorative decoys and did that for a good 15-18 years, then gave it up for about 5 years. Then I started carving working decoys after you gave your speech earlier this year and have carved about 15 working decoys since that time. Which I find quick easy and fun to make. I've had all my working decoys on the water, but am trying to hunt over all that remain in my inventory here at home.
I grew up in Peru, IL.
As for the working decoys, I've used tupelo (and like carving with it) , but like the cork the best for use on water. I use acrylics for paint.
I've been in the duck blind since age 5, shooting since age 10 with a single shot Winchester and have evolved from there. I like hunting big water the best, but tend to hunt pothole situations down at my hunt club. Still like to go to the public drawings and hunt big water.
