Decoy Bags ?

The Rogers small goose bags work very well for carrying them. If we arent running the big decoys they will hold two black ducks or even 3 birds to a slot if running gadwall or widgeon. We place them keel to keel in the slots and it works well.

Dick,

My big cork mallard decoys are in an Avery Full Body, 6 slot bag. These mallard decoys that I made are based on the old Herter's foam goose decoys. I tried their regular bags and they were too small. These mallards are 27" long and have a 3/4" cedar bottom board, so they are real tall. The heads are way over-sized to be in scale with the large bodies.

My cork divers I make will fit in their regular bags, BUT I tried a 12 slotter, and when they were loaded up, I needed an 17 year old lineman to help lift them in the boat, when on a trailer.

Avery bags are top-notch. They have a weight pocket, and are completely sewn on the bottom. They also have great drainage, when picking up.

I have met Dave, have three of his bags. I won't do business with anyone else or trust my decoys in any other bag

Won't "trust my decoys in any other bag" - give me a break. It is a bag, the technology isn't that advanced.

Dollar for dollar you can't beat the Rogers branded bags. We use the FB duck bags for all our oversized decoys and they work great. We do like the 6 slot bags because a 12slot full of custom burlapped decoys gets mighty heavy to lift. And my favorite is the Final Aproach bags that came with the lesser goose full bodies a few years ago. Ugly color but that bags are great!

Do the Rogers bags have the dividers sewn into the bottom of the bag, so your anchors and lines don't tangle with each other?

Unless you detach your anchors or have a fail safe anchor storage system, this is a big deal. Untangling frozen anchor lines in the dark is no fun.

My older models do not But I believe the new models have a weight pouch on them to stick the weights into.

No the new materials used by some companies have bonded with the paint on decoys while stored in them. My carved birds will be stored, hauled and carried in Dave's bags only

So you only use and deploy only up to 18 (maybe 36) decoys at a time? Better get carving then to build a rig. :)

I own bags from several makers and decoys from several makers and have never had an issue with bags bonding to the paint. The only problem with bags I've had are canvas bags like Dave makes that saturate and stay wet and freeze to the decoys, get bug eaten, and are so limp that they won't stand to be loaded, but hey to each his own.

I'm sure you also remember that Dave was banned from this forum because he was unable to follow the rules here and burnt his bridges here.

Dave may have left on his own accord after not being able to follow the rules, I remember him asking that all his content be removed. All the more reason that he should not recieve the benefit from advertising here.

I try to buy American every time. I will sometimes do without, rather than purchasing imported. I have over a dozen custom American made canvas bags. However, in the magnum decoy bag department, I had to cave and purchase Rig em Right bags. I very tentatively started with just two and tested them for a season and a half. I purchased eight more this year. They do not get soggy and freeze or have the tendency to hold dirt that the traditional bags do. I don't know what the fabric is, and don't know if it will hold up in the long run, but it certainly has done a good job so far in the short term.

I have some of Diane's bags that are nearly 20 years old- beat up but still serviceable.

I use the 12 pocket Avery Magnums most of the time.

I didn't know Dave was gone from the site. His Devlin is terrific.

Dave took his toys and went home. He asked us to remove all his post, and given that they were mostly centered around self promotion anyway, we decided to oblige him.
