Decoy Carving

I've played around with the idea of caving my own decoys for a while and have carved a few decoy heads , but I really have no idea what's the best way or how to go about it, I enjoyed carving and have a bunch of tools to do it with, can anybody help point me in the right direction on how to get started maybe books to read or patterns to follow, where i can by wood and other tools I may need? any help would be appreciated Thanks Chris

Where do you live? See if you can find a mentor or take a class. Willy has a nice set of videos at the Duck Blind.

For books, there are two I recomend.

Making Decoys the Century Old Way by Grayson Chesser and Curtis Badger

The Art in Making Decoys by Keith Mueller.

I would say both not one or the other

Watch your fingers and good Luck!

I live in GA. bout 30 min south of Augusta, I have no idea where i could take a class, but i will see if I can find both the books would love to read them
