Decoy Line Supplier

Thomas and I exhausted my decoy line supply rigging some decoys last night and the supplier I used is out of business. Now I'm sure I could google up another but it would be so much simpler and less risky if someone pointed me to a supplier of 1/8" diamond braided dark dyed line that is waterfowler proven. For years I've been using crab pot line that is nice and stiff and tangle resistant and have no intentions of going back to the kite string they sell in most outdoor catalogs.

Thanks.

Each 1 lb. spool contains approximately 510 linear feet with a 340 lb. breaking strength.
This twine is specially black treated and dried before it's put on the spool.
It has many advantages over twine treated by "spool dunking."
It is uniformly and deeply coated from one end to the other - no "zebra stripes" or tar globs to come off on your hands.
It's dry, easy-to-tie, and holds knots well.

Huge selection of every imaginable line. He'll send a range of samples at your request.

I second the Memphis Net and Twine.

That's who we use for our longline rig line. I searched pretty hard to compare prices and their pricing was the best. Their service is top notch too.

I use his longlines and a few guys I hunt with , Pat Gregory and Tim Speight, got his decoys line and love it.

I'm familar with Memphis Net and saw that line on their webiste. Is that a braided line or is it a twist? I have bad memories of twist lines from my early days of decoy rigging.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Black Nylon Braid Tie Down Line, 1/8" x 48'

Black double braid NYLON LINE offers great resistance to abrasion, a popular utility line. Strong, uniformly rounded cord that stays flexible and will not flatten under heavy loads.

I've been dealing with Bob for several years. His ONLY products are duck hunting line, anchors, clips, etc.. He sells the stuff because he uses it himself. Great service and good prices.

too thin IMO....

I use the same line in 96 and 102.....the 96 is for the puddle ducks that are indiviually wighted and the 102 I use for the Sea Duck rig that will be longlined...the larger diameter is way easier on the hands when its cold...and stiffer so its less prone to tangling....

Don't know if Memehis Net and Twine carries it in those sizes....if not let me know and I'll pick you up a spool, (or as many as you need), when I go to Seattle Marine this week to get some for Derek and myself.

Steve

I couldn't remember what size the line I had was I just knew that the type of line was similar.

Steve, does Seattle Marine have the same rope you use for your mother lines? If so pick me up enough to do 4 mother lines, and get me 2 dozen big clips while your at it. Wow.... that sounded kinda bossy huh? I desperatley need to expand my diver rig. I'll reimburse you...honest.....I'll send you a check for 8,000,000 you cash it and send me back the difference minus 1,000,000 for your trouble along with the rope and clips. What a deal for you.

I've had good luck w/ both Decoy Rigs and Memphis Net. I've bought several spools from Decoy Rigs over the last 10-12 years. But I don't know, if Steve's gonna go hand pick, buy, and ship, that's a pretty generous offer.... I'd take him up on that!

the swordfish line....I'm sure they will....it won't be as "soft" as the stuff I have int he bucket....that stuff I got at G.I. Joe's about a million years ago and I'vbe never seen it again in 100'lengths...(if I ever do I'm buying all they have)....but they will have the black swordfish line like the two "spares" that I have that stay int he line locker.....that stuff is stiffere although not as stiff as the heavy 3/8" tarred net line that I use in the Barnegat when I don't have room for the bucket....

I'll pick up the line and the clips and they'll be in the truck next time we get together......

Sounds like a DEAL to me on the check....you're a SWELL friend for doing that....

Steve

Steve, Look at green braided twine for Eric, sometimes called Ashaway, Ganging (Gangion) or Neptune in a #60 or #72 size. It is fairly stiff and with the braid he won't look for it to unravel on him.
