decoys

I have a big debate going in my head. Its all about what type of decoys I should use.Should I buy Dakota Decoy Mallards.Or stay with my current spread of restles and toledo decoys. My friend and I have this debate going on that we should use more realistic decoys. What are peoples thoughts on this.Thanks.

Buy a pair of mallards from every carver on this site. Your decoys will not only look great, they'll give you something to look at on the slow days and your whole spread will be worth way more then what you paid for them in ten years. Maybe even buy some blacks from the east coast guys to throw in there for good measure.

Stick with your current spread of Restles. They may not have all the molded detail of the Dakota's, but I bet they float more like a duck due to design. Also in my opinion the Dakota's may be very detailed, but all the detail they have is not necessarily correct. They seemed to have gone out of their way to be different just to be different, which included deviating from what a duck looks like.

If you would like a bit more detail, why not start repainting you current Toledo's? Your money invested would be much less and you can put a bit of your own stamp on them.

Doing away with the plastic myself. Going burlapped foam or restle coated foam. Like was said above, I think they ride better than plastic.

If weight is not an issue Toledo's may be the best "non cork" decoy you can buy. They will last forever and if you decide to sell them they retain their value.
