Delta Waterfowl magazine......

Well, I know Ryan Werden (sorry if the spelling is wrong Ryan) heard my scream......received my Delta Waterfowl magazine in the mail today. Gave it the automatic thumb thru and see something about hunting blue wing teal and hand carved decoys.

Went about cooking supper while the magazine sat on the fire pit(the pit was not burning.) Really wanted to read about the teal decoys, but knew the wife wanted her chicken cooked and not made into hockey pucks. Yup, after dinner, bout 7pm Eastern time, I let out the yell heard across most of NE Ohio.

Nice write-up of Hitch and Pat Gregory and real Hand Carved Blue winged Teal Decoys! Well I have to say they looked nice and the story was told very nice of a wonderful couple days of teal hunting in Florida, BUT...........

there were no good pictures of the hunters! See Hitch standing there with his face covered, ears under his hat, gloves on....mind you they are hunting in Florida, yes, might have been in January, but cold, I suspect, it wasn't! Least not for us northerners. Heck, the cattails are still green. Early October here at latest!

Come on man, you showed the decoys, but no good pictures of the hunters. You two guys are way better looking than Hank Garvey and his face is always pictured, shown, presented and displayed in/on another certain magazine from another duck conservation group.

So.....next time you go hunting teal, please let me know ahead of time and I too will send you a decoy to hunt over. There is nothing better than teal season and teal on the bar-bee.

All joking aside, nice job by all. Hope this brings some attention to decoy carvers and hand made stools. Nothing like it, shooting over a rig of em. Congrats to all. And best of all, there were/are no pictures of Hank! hehe love ya man.

Be safe out there!

Duane - I appreciate the kind words and, the humor. It's better they keep my mug out of the pictures. Hitch was the real movie star!
All kidding aside, we appreciate the hospitality of Hitch and his crew. It was a real blessing to Paul and me. We are trying to spice things up with these decoy hunts plus, raise some money for the conservation groups that do the good work they do. It's also an opportunity to showcase the excellent carvers that make the wonderful gunning decoys they do.

This fall, we will be showcasing redheads with several decoys from members of this forum. We will be travelling to Long Point, Ontario in November and layout gunning with biologist Ted Barney. We look forward to this adventure to raise awareness to some of the lesser species of ducks, to raise money for conservation work and, to showcase some of the fine carvers we have.

I am proud of the waterfowling community and the support it gives our conservation organizations. Nobody does it better... Pat
