Took a day off from fishing to work on re painting a few decoys that needed to get done. A while back i bought a bunch of herters 63 black ducks, which have now been converted into old squaw...
The tails are actually plastic coat hangers that I cut and epoxied into the back, I also got around to painting some E Allen Goldeneyes which were pretty badly worn from the previous season
And on a side note I installed the spray shield on my higbee recently, and now i just need to paint the whole boat and its ready! When i bought the boat it needed a new rubrail since the one on it was badly rotted. It seemed like a simple fix but was actually a little more challenging. What I ended up doing was basically splitting the mold into 2 (top and bottom) then caulking it back together, then added a new rubrail made of plastic decking and bolted it on. That yellowish paint on the bottom is actually a two part epoxy paint that is used on ship hulls. I decided to use it on the bottom just to add a little more durability to the hull. Although it did add some weight, it hardened nicely and I will feel a little more comfortable when the boat rubs up on the muscles or any other ground in the bay.
