Difference between divers and puddle ducks

While laying in my sneak box yesterday, starring into the sun, I came up with this analogy.
A batter hits a soft liner to the outfield, he slows down as he approaches first, takes a few steps past first then jogs back to the base. He is happy he is on base.
Next inning a batter gets the same hit, races up to first, rounds first as fast as he can and races toward second. He slides in head first and beats the tag by inches. And the crowd roars!
