Dog kennel winterizing

I have had some guys ask how I keep dogs warm and happy up here in the winter

Here is what we do up here in NE Montana. We have 10 kennels for our outside labs.
I installed the dog house heaters first.

Then I install the dog doors

Then to keep the water buckets ice free.

Power is run to the rear of the kennels for the dog house heater and bucket heater.

Then a bed of straw in the houses, Winter here is no joke last year temps down to - 36 and that is not wind chill

Now that my son is a homeowner in Glasgow, I may send him over for a look at your kennels. Looks like you've got the system worked out. He is also looking at winterizing his vehicles and home. Good job on those kennels. Your dogs may not appreciate the work but it looks like you've taken very good care of them.

You can tell that a lot of thought went into this project that you worked so hard on, Doug. Thanks for these pictures. There is no doubt that when the north winds begin to crank up out of Canada, your pups will be comfortable.
