Dogs flying Delta soon to have to be flown Cargo

In case y'all hadn't heard, starting March next year Delta will no longer accept dogs as checked baggage unless you're military with transfer papers in hand or they are certified a service dog. Otherwise they'll have to fly cargo, which is more expensive (to fly my dog will be more than twice than the current checked dog fee) and there's no guarantee that they'll get him/her on the same flight schedule as you.

some dogs can be carried on with you as one of your personal items. Otherwise they would need to be checked with any other suitcases as checked baggage. Effective March 1, they'll be required to be flown as "cargo" checked in in a separate cargo area, picked up in a separate cargo area when you get there to pick them up, and it's very possible that the dog won't fly with you on the same flights at all, so you'd have two different flight itineraries (one for you and one for the dog). Unless you're military with transfer papers or they are service animals, then they can still be checked.
 
Been thinking about getting mine checked off as a service dog. Besides this, the big benefit is that a hotel can't turn her away either...
 
I've never flown with my dogs.. heard horror stories and there is no way being on the tar-mac with all the engine noise doesn't cause hearing damage.
 
Just another reason that I won't fly, I don't even like my dog in a trailer or even in the back of the truck under the topper. He will ride shotgun until he gets tired and then takes a nap on the platform over the back set. Yah I know he should be in a kennel but I guess we all do some things we know better. I want to come back as my dog.

I just had a pup flown as cargo from New Mexico to Calgary on United. Very smooth process without a hitch. They have it dialled in.
 
Bev and I were very impressed with United Airlines Pet Safe program. As Paul said, the folks there were great. We will continue to use them whenever possible.

After my experience with flying a GSP pup, never again. However I have been intrigued by Gundog Express. Anybody here have experience with them?

Today I checked Delta Cargo about getting my dog to Sask. next year. Since they don't no day to day there flight schedule I put in Dec.2, 2015. Guess what no flight available. It just maybe that they don't have the details worked out or they will not fly a dog internationally. If someone knows something I can't find out know, please post up.
