duck boat trailer bunk carpet for a wooden boat...

I've had a bunch of iterations on my trailers and I'm still looking for something better for bunk carpet (yes, it does have to be carpet, no slicks, no firehose, etc...). Does anyone have a suggestion of a great (long lasting and thick) material?

I've been using a high quality outdoor carpet from the big box store and it is OK, but just hasn't help up as well as I'd like (I think I'm on my 3rd iteration, it wears through or rips). I always glue the carpet down to the bunk because I've had trouble with carpet walking and bunching up if you don't. Carpet glue then staples around the perimeter.

Suggestions??? I see there are a ton of options if buying specifically bunk carpet. I also know a ton of what is out there is cheap junk because I've used it before and it sucked.

I,ve used indoor/outdoor carpet from big box stores on my smaller boat trailers. Has the rubberized backing on it. Stapled w/stainless staples along sides and bottom ,no issues. But why no slicks? Makes boat unloading/ loading a lot better with less wear to hull in my opinion.

I have used very nice indoor outdoor carpet several times and it always fails. Maybe I use my stuff more or harder than you do or I'm less lucky. I don't know, but I'm looking for something better.

Slicks on a glass over wood boat plus gravel roads is a recipe to destroy a painted glass over wood hull. Not to mention that slicks create a lot of point stresses that I don't want driving on rough gravel roads.

Maybe the solution is a bottom repaint with Wetlander or Gatorglide. Or to always float the boat on and off. Heavy boats are tough on bunks. I have the same problem as you with several boats, and have replaced carpet a number of times. I got no magic carpet ideas.
