duck migration

hey i live in eastern north carolina and do a lot of diver hunting and i was woundering if anyone had any good reports of migration of divers.

As a front was coming through late yesterday evening, a friend and I saw high flight after flight of divers headed down the AR River passing Little Rock. 100's and 100's of birds in just 1/2 hr time.

On the prairie in south central ND, I have seen highler numbers of cans, redheads and bluebils than normal for this time of year. Ringnecks have gone through it seems, though a few still hanging around in the summer temps. Cans will leave next week and are starting to stage. redheads, are still around in good numbers, but some have gone on as well. I love to tell ya hunting hunting them has been great with numbers around, but when you have 2 straight weeks of sunny skies, 70-80 degree temps, lot of windless days, huge flocks of coots and so much newly inundated water with plenty of grass, hunting them has been very tough. But I will keep trying.

No sign of divers here in southern wisconsin. One thing i found to be strange is the gigantic flocks of mallards i've seen. I'm seeing flocks of birds i wouldn't typically see until late season. I wondering if they're getting down south early to beat the winter ahead. (God i hope not)

When I was hunting on Lake Erie last week there were large flocks of divers arriving on the strong north wind. Not the huge numbers we see in November but enough that it was notable. We shot several greater scaup that day, the earliest I recall shooting a bluebill.

I was out on Thursday scouting here in south Texas. I ran into a small group of redheads, some bluebills and a bunch of pintails. Its super early for us to be seeing any redheads. Even had a large group of sandhill cranes loafing around in the swamp. Usually its only teal and shovelers this time of year here. I still have to wait it out till Oct. 30th. Good luck everyone

FYI un update from up north
In the Cook Inlet/Flats area
Big push of honks left here Wed./Thurs, (quite a few in the area still though)
Most of the big sets of teal are gone.
Travelling Mallards are pushing through now, we are icing up so it won't be long till they to are gone.
Cranes left 10-14 days ago in mass.
Good Luck
Kelly
