Duck Wrangler/Duck Water boats

This is to all that have or are going to buy these boats. I had to pull the floor off my Duck Wrangler 17' boat and you would not believe what we found. I bought this boat brand new from OHIO. I will send pics to any one who would like to see this lousy workmanship. I am not going to use this forum to bash this company. I am going to inform any one who has one of these boats to have it checked because mine was really bad. My e-mail is pintailmag@yahoo.com. You are welcome to email me and discuss this boat

First off,
we use our names here, and we fill out our profiles so folks know who we are.

Second,
sorry to hear you are having problems with your boat.

No one likes spending big bucks on a hobby and having a less than expected outcome. Good luck with the repairs.
AL, like any material, is not perfect and it has to be worked in a way as to compliment its strengths and avoid its shortcomings.
I know a full Production Builder of big commercial boats that had to rework a whole series of his builds due to a materials failure with an incorrect alloy.

please send pics as well. Did you buy the new model 17 footer? I looked at it over at The Tuckerton show. Boat was over 14K. The 15 footer was just over 7k. Decent little boat but two extra feet on the 17 footer cost you twice as much???!!!

Dennis,
thanks for filling out the profile. The comments I made RE AL are pretty much the same for glass.
Again, hope you get it fixed and working for your season.

mike the boats at tuckerton are wrangler boats by tom ayers not duck wrangler boats. Those were built by steve hoover. Totally different builders. I really like toms new 17 footer. Very nice looking rig.

Mike the boats in Tuckerton were Wrangler Boats, thats not the same company as Duck Wrangler. What did you think of the boats at Tuckerton ? I wasent a big fan of all the rivets holding everything together.

Joe,

I was a bit confused as to how the fiberglass would have been removed for the wrangler boats to "see" the workmanship. Now I understand that it must have been an aluminum floor. But, Steve did originally build fiberglass as well.

I bought a boat from Steve Hoover last year and I don't have any complaints but I am aware that the feud between Steve and Tom ranks right up there with the Hatfields and the McCoys.

I really like the layout of the 17 footer in Tuckerton but it didn't feel like the tank that mine is made of aluminum. Guess that you felt the same with the rivets? If I every bite the bullet and get a fiberglass, I'll buy the Bankes. People cannot say enough positive things about them. For now, I'll stick with aluminum and spare JB Weld if I get too crazy. At least I know that I will get home.

The only rivets on the 17ft. at Tuckerton were on the upper shelves and the aluminum trim molding on the transom which are also bonded with 3m 5200 . As far as the price difference between the 15 and the 17 you have to realize that the 15 weighs 450lbs 17 weighs 850lbs The blind on the 17ft. is much larger and it also has a trailer that costs almost twice as much. There are a lot of things that factor into the cost of a boat that might not be all that obvious. I hope that everyone that attended Tuckerton enjoyed the show. Tom.

Mike, I think we have some confusion. This boat is a 17' all fiberglas boat made by Steeve Hoovers Duck Wrangler/Duck water boats. Please do not compare this boat with Tom"s Wrangler Boat.Tom's boat is a much better built boat.

Dennis - hasn't it been a while since Hoover built a fiberglass boat? I was confused but thanks for clearing it up. More info needed - how old is your boat? Why did you feel the need to take the floor off in the first place?

Tom- I understand for obvious reasons the difference in price. The 15 will not give me much of an advantage over what I already have. I want a 17 for the room and ability to have 3 hunters shoot with comfort. I was just questioning out loud whether it would be worth it for "me" to double down on a boat that is 2 feet longer.

Mike, I have no problem with anyones comments. The show went very well and the boat was well received. I couldn't be happier. Tom.

People need to get the facts right!!!

Start the thread off right!!!

And,

Give the right information, this is a bull crap tread and is a waist of time to read!!!

Mike , The boat is a 2004. We pulled the floor because we had a lot of movement in the floor . Also we where going to paint the bottom and we went to lift it with the tractor (Kabota 2500) and we could only get it up about a FT.

Chris maybe if you see the pics you might think a little different

Dennis,

Sorry to hear about your DW17. I had a 2002 with a 90 hp and a side console. The boat was awesome and out performed my brothers 17Ft Tdb sea class. Who was the previous owner and was there ever any hull damage that you didnt know about? My brother currently owns a 24ft Duckwater built by Hoover and the boat is top notch. This is the third rig we have owned made by S Hoover. I would like to know the history behind your hull. Good luck with her.
