Duck Wrangler/Duck Water boats

Steve, First of all in all this I have never said I did not like the performance of the boat. The bottom of this is the same as the TDB. That is what sold the boat in the first place. As far as approving the repair that is a lie because I never picked up the boat someone else did. When it I did see it back in RI I call you do tell you I did not like the fact that you used sheetrock screws to screw down the floor.

I agree you did offer the aluminum hull but at a COST. And what you wanted to do was put the top half of my fiberglas on an aluminum hull which I was told by a few boat builders was not a good idea. so I told you no. at this point I still wanted my boat fixed and you stopped communication. All this happened in the second year I had this boat. So I say this again to you.YOUR WARRANTY IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN.

Bottom line here is if you own one of these boats take it to a weigh station. If it is over 7 or 8 hundred pounds you have a problem.

Steve,

Because I have the utmost respect for Eric Patterson, and the member community here at Duckboats.net, I will refrain from shredding your lies into little pieces in a way not acceptable here. Your methods of personally attacking are classic juvenile behavior from someone whose position is without merit. I will however address the blatant lies in the paragraph addressed directly to me.

You have no knowledge and are absolutely clueless about my personal life or the circumstances of my employment; past, present, and future.

With respect to you "advertising on my site", what actually happened was I warned you about your blatant spamming and posting pictures. Just like here, rather than pony up the cash, you decided to just shut up and quit spamming. I think your offer to "flip some money for a sponsorship" to Eric now for is insulting and a slap in the face. I think every member of this forum sees it for what it is; frankly it makes me sick to my stomach.

As far as the Waterfowl Bootcamp committee goes, I ran that event for two years. I was not "kicked off"; I voluntarily stepped away and let a new committee form and take over the event because I was sick of all the sabotage, subterfuge, and personal and political agendas being advanced. Reference "Rance Slide"...

The attitude you exhibit, personally attacking people and making statements about them as though they are Gospel truth, is not a quality I think many potential boat buyers find endearing in the president of a company who's boat they may be considering. I think the general membership here is intelligent, mature, and savvy enough to see how you approach business, and I'd venture to say the vast majority here have a very similar opinion of you as a person, and your company, as I do now. I'd give up waterfowling before hunting out of a boat built by your company.

I know of almost every boat you delivered to Pennsylvania and know almost every boat owners very well, like Rod from Lock Haven. They are the ones telling me about their problems.

You are reading past history into my comments and it just isn't there. The bottom line is flotation under the floor is not a good design feature. Boat builders look at that dead space and think filling it with foam and meeting the floatation requirements is a good thing. It is not. Three point floatation is superior. I wish the duck boat buying community would demand it and put an end to the problems foam in the floor creates. Also, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt as well when I said if the problem had been found earlier you would have fixed it.

are those red tubes supposed to be sealed for air flotation or are they channels back to a bilge area? do these boats have a drain plug? was this boat stored inside or outside? was that amount of water gained below the floor from using it or from storing it outside without a cover over it? It kinda looks like those tubes run back to a bilge pump and there might be plug. was this boat drained and unplugged for storage in between hunts?

Steve and Dennis,

The compromise solution is right in front of both of you. Dennis buys the materials and does the work to make the repair and Steve pays for just the materials costs. Absent at least that, I would never consider one of Steve's boats. Any legitimate businessman would see that as a win win.

Eric, do you know if a TDB has a foam floor ala wrangler ? I will be hunting out of one for the first time this year and I now have a concern.

Can anyone tell me the proper weight of a TDB 14 classic ? I want to verify my cousin's TDB weight to ease my mind.

Best, Bill

Bill

I do not know for sure. What I can tell you is the TDB website makes the following claim about the TDB 14 Classic.

Because all flotation is strategically located in the boat, it refuses to roll upside down even if swamped when fully loaded!

That statement suggests it uses 3 point or something similar but I don't know for sure. They do not make that same claim on the sea class. If I were in the market I would ask the manufacturer how they have incorporated flotation and it would be high on my list of determining which boat to buy. In the past when I discussed this issue wth Sam Devlin he told me "flotation below the floor does no good." All his duck boats use 3 point flotation.

Bill the new TDB Classics have a fugazzi foam floor, I made reference to it in my previous post. The floor was pure sponge, couldn't believe it. I sold that boat as fast as I could and bought the High Tec Hawk 14 (Great little boat). The older TDB Classics were maine built and had kevlar in the hull, but the hull was only a piece of fiberglass, no flooring. It kinda freaked me out. They were made well and never had a problem with them (owned a Maine built TDB 1998). Arthur Armstrong builds them now, not pretty. The Sea CLass is a different story though, SICK BOAT !!
I upsized and flipped my HAwk-14 for a DW-17. I put 4, sometimes 5 guys on that boat, and it's a workhorse, I love it. We do alot of Scoter/Eider hunting out of it and it performs fantastic. I tried posting her but it won't upload..

Anyone know what I'm talking about with the new TDB Classic flooring?

My 14ft Seaclass has 3 point floatation......under the floor I have no idea, but it's solid with no flex areas

Hello All,

As I stated in the begining, this thread was not started correctly. Tons of information was left out to intentionally start trouble. I do not have alot of posts on this site so you may not know me, that is not because I wish not to contribute, it is just I am fairly new to the sport and read most of what people write.

I do not personnelly know anyone on the site except for two or three people. I do not know Steve Hoover at all, but I have been on guided hunts three times and the boats all three guides used were made by Steve. I must say they are awesome boats and I hope to own onem, some day.

It is so obvious that there are four or five people here trying to hurt Steve Hoovers reputation. He is a boat builder and it is his career, I personally don't like what is going on.

There is always two side to every story and no one here will know what actually took place except for Steve and Dennis. Regardless, when the boat that Dennis owns is fixed it will still be one for the best large style duck boats you can hunt out of.

Everyone on this site has one thing in common and that is the love for the sport of hunting. It is my opinion that this thread should be done with and we should all move on and start talking about the up and comming season.

Dennis sorry to hear of the inconvenience this has caused you and thank you for sharing the pictures, I truly hope it all works out for everyone.

Cant believe y'all are still dragging this dead horse around when I have posted pictures of Puppies!!!
LAB PUPPIES!
Come on, is this really more interesting than puppies????????

insert large smiley face here: :)

Carl,

This has been burning up with 4100 views in 3 days and you are just chiming in now? You really must have found puppy love.

Corey, There are no stringers in this boat. the tubes you see are in place of stringers. There is no drain plug where the flotation is it is supposed to be a sealed system. The boat is stored outside with the drain plugged pulled.

Oh, I've been reading along, its been interesting.
But as others have said, I aint got no dog in this fight!

Well I hope this one has the same ending as the Huff story. Many will find, that after tempers and egos are put aside, a mutual agreement is usually attainable.

I talked to Steve and I am glad that I got his version as well. It all makes sense now.
