Duckboats get together

I've been posting and viewing this site for a little while and have personally met some great guys through this site. I have also gone on some great hunting trips because this site and people that I have met here.

Is anyone interested in an "official" Duckboat get together? I would pick an area that is kinda in the middle for everyone and maybe do it on a Saturday afternoon to eve and Sunday can be a travel day. I guess I can cover the northeast such as NJ, NY, PA, DE, Conn and maybe MD.

What I am thinking is a local tavern or something where we will pick a reasonable charge per person. Make it all inclusive and maybe get a few items to raffle off.

Any interest??

Sounds good but lets take out the boats. I would like to see what people are hunting out of.

I'll go.........plenty of time to do a run some Sunday.......Mike I'll be talking to you soon about your cans.......Jode

I would be interested, don't know if I'll have my boat done in time, but will bring it if it is! Dave in Northern VA.

How does everyone want to pick a place? We will see who is interested and then from there we can make suggestions and vote? I'm game for whatever the majority decides

If all the votes are in favor of a boat run, then fine with me. Lets try to do something before it gets too cold. Afterwards we can have a brunch somewhere for those that are interested.

IMHO, the seasons are open now, getting folks together with their boats will be tough. My suggestion is to plan something after the Holidays when the seasons are over. And we are in mourning of the end of the hunts. Dave

I kinda going both ways with this.

My thoughts were originally get everyone together in a room so we can really meet each other, shoot the breeze or whatever. Then maybe have a boat get together in the early spring when the weather is a little more predictable and possibly warmer (my kids will want to go so weather may be a factor)

On the other hand everyone's boats are pretty much running now so it shouldn't be too bad for us to wing something and we are duck hunters are we not??? Weather shouldn't be a problem if it's kinda soon. After the season we can meet somewhere for a brunch and talk about the past season.

So lets talk a time frame..............When would you guys like to plan this?

What are the votes in favor for.........

I am going to be Al Gore and cast the tie breaking vote.

Sorry for all the typos today. There is a bunch a crap in my keyboard and I didn't realize all my mistakes until after I re-read all the post.

I'm up for either........meeting for lunch is easy.....a boat run is more planning..let the powers that be decide and i'll join in................

We've mentioned meals and floating boats... why not a hunt! I know it will restrict some people who don't want to buy a license if they are not in the same state but they would still be welcome to ride along.

I know, I know, honey holes and all that stuff. There's lots of room on the NJ coast or up the delaware bay. Heck, I've been wanting to try Raritan Bay or the Hudson. These bays are what the boats are made for, run and gun stuff. Divers, sea ducks and brant work all day. No reason we couldn't cover a good sized area with a couple combined spreads. No divers in their right mind would pass a spread with a couple hundred decoys.

Just my $0.02 worth since it is a great idea to get together and it is hunting season. I'm sure I will get to hunt with a few of you over the coarse of the season anyway but everyone at one place and time would be a blast.

Ok here is how I see it.....

Glenn - Boatfest
Jode Hillman - Boatfest
Charlie Foulds - Boatfest
Dave Diefenderfer - Boatfest or get together
Kevin Folkman - Boatfest
John Birmingham - Boatfest
Gene Jr. - Hunt Trip

Dave.....if your boat is not done in time and we opt to do the boat outting, I am sure others would be happy to take you along. I'd like to get as many of us together as possible.

Anyone have any cool names we can call this????

Gene....couple of hundred decoys eh? sounds cool.....

Hello all,
I have a new BBSB and think a boat fest would be geat. Would be nice to meet some new people as I don't post much here.

Anyone who is interested, please offer suggestions as to where you would like this to take place. I would like to be geographically convenient for all that would like to attend.

Also timeframe. I would suggest between 10 and 11 for those that might have to travel a bit but if you want earlier so you don't have to burn a whole day that is fine with me.

Can we maybe shoot for Sunday November 22nd? If we decide to to a hunt instead we can pick a Saturday but I cannot do November 28th.

I'll travel most unreasonable distances. I routinely drive to Tuckerton from Northern VA for a day in the boat shop! Heading to Vermont 11/14-11/22 for duck hunting, and have tickets the the Virginia Tech/UVA game on the 28th, but don't schedule around me, I'll make it next year if I can't this year!

Just offering a few thoughts based on both Bill Wasson & Alvin Chase's Lobsterfests and NH's Ducker Day events. Holding events during warm weather with the boats is a blast! If you can tie in shooting and great food you have the makings of a fabulous time. Here are a few oldie shots from Lobsterfest 3:

And don't forget to throw in decoys:

And in case Alvin and Bill see this, thank you guys these events were GREAT!

A get together and a hunt sounds like a good idea to me.
I see most of you guys are Jersey boys.
How would anyone feel about coming out to Long Island and hunt the Great South Bay area. It's about an hour east of NYC in Lindenhurst, NY. Non-resident license is $85 and I'm sure I could make arrangements to use our marina with plenty of secure storage for boats and trailers along with a ramp and slips.
If this sounds of interest let me know.

I am willing to travel to JOISEY anytime except our opening weekend of deer season. I need to babysit my deer camp that weekend. 21-22. Great idea for the warmer weather as well. Great way to have some fun and fellowship during the off season. Those boys up north of us seem to have it together. It would be something else to see all the boats on the east coast together in one location.
