Do drake blackducks vocalize? Does it sound like a drake mallard?

Do drake blackducks have curly tails? (not blackduck / mallard cross)

Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks

Do drake blackducks vocalize? Does it sound like a drake mallard? ....yes and yes, but they (hens and drakes) are not nearly as gabby as mallards

Do drake blackducks have curly tails? (not blackduck / mallard cross) .... nope

As stated above and very little on the duck call, it amazes me to see guys screaming on a mallard call and they dont know why the black ducks flare at a mile away.
I only give a few low drawn out drake quacks and then shut up. The more pressure the quieter they get.

Thanks for the info, gentlemen.

I wasn't particularly asking for hunting reasons, just plain ol' curious. But none the less, thanks for the added insight!

Here's a couple pics of a nice drake. No curls, but a little something extra!

Black ducks are picky from what I've seen.

More so than any other bird, it helps to be where they want to be and as the others said, don't call if you don't have to (I usually don't call at all as a rule unless there are slim pickings, and even then, I'm a minimalist).

Hunting them in bad weather is best, as they fly low and tend to be less picky as to where they land (in my decoys!).

I say again: Location. location, location.

Best of luck.
