Dust Collection and Microns?

Found a 2 HP dust collector but it filters 5 microns. I was thinking the lower the number the better it filters but the ad said this will get the smallest harmful dust. Is the ad wrong?

Yes, the ad is wrong. If you want to filter the smallest, and most harmful dust, you need 1 micron or smaller. Look into a shaker felt filter or a cyclone system if you want the best filtration.
