E-Allen repaint question

Picked up some used E-Allen decoys that need to be repainted. Original paint is acrylic and is chipping pretty bad. Wanting to strip most of the paint off and then repaint with ronans and oil. Any advice?
Thanks.

I trestle coat mine and then paint with Golden Mattes, JansenArt Traditions and Chromas. Never had a problem with it coming off..... even by scraping it on concrete.

Brian,
If the old paint is chipping pretty bad...those birds were not prepped properly. They MUST be washed in a solvent such as lacquer thinner and scuffed up (at the same time) with a green scotch brite pad. THEN, paint will stick. If not prepped properly...nothing will stick.

Drop those birds in a tub of Lacquer thinner and that will take off the paint and most of the mold release. Wash again in some clean lacquer thinner....dry them off and go ahead and paint.
Prep info is also on my website: www.lockstockbarrell.com
Holler with any questions.
Lou
