Hello Ed I was looking at your profile and saw that you are running a surface drive motor on a hand crafted fiberglass boat i love the lay out and design. I was just curious how fiberglass holds up in the "skinny thick water" (mud).I was gonna just pm you but i thought that others would enjoy hearin about mud moters on fiberglass boats. Thanks Scott

Haven't had any problems. That's 12 oz of biaxial cloth over 1/2" Okoume on the bottom. I have slammed that boat wide open onto oyster reefs, semi-submerged cypress stumps, logs, 12" PVC drain pipe filled with foam (lilly booms) all wide open and no damage other than some paint that peeled off the bottom here and there. Did have a prop spontaneously disintegrate that left me stranded 20 miles down in the marsh year before last. Didn't hit anything at the time. That transom is 2" thick laminated Okoume, 12" biaxial sandwiched on either side. Check it out: The Peregrine.

Ed.
