Take one old tracker panfish model and convert it to a new skinny-water rig.

Stripped out old carpet, wood floors and years of grime and oxidation.

Prep the hull and prime with zinc chromate - which is the most toxic stuff I may have ever worked around.

Add new foam in floor and gunnels and a new alum diamond plate floor. Painted in Petite marine paint.

New gunnel caps and "fancy" new astroturf wraps...

Given that statement, I'm surprised it's legal in California. Regardless, great job. Chuck

I keep wanting to add LED "rope" style lighting around the insdie of my rig so I don't have to crawl around with a flashlight when I dump my shooting bag in the am. Maybe I'm the only one that dumps his bag digging for donuts;)

Nice word Derek - boat looks new.

I second the headlights idea - I put cheapo 4-wheelin' lights on my bow. Its harder to drive and hold a flashlight at the same time, and the lights have a good pipe frame.

Gene Jr. - yes the LED lights are great. I got mine from "whitesmarine" on EBAY.

they have different colors and lengths. Keep them out of the direct weather and they will last OK. They aren't super bright, but provide enough light when it's dark.

derek, great work! hope your having a good season out there. what happened to your barnegat project? is it all done? best, mark

nice work Derek. post some pics as you progress and when she's finished.

Gene, the donuts go in the side pocket of your bag so you always know right where they are.

Guys, thanks for the tips, any more? On headlights, anyone have an opinon on the best brand/type of lights? I would like something low profile on the front.

Mark-
Well the BBSBs. What happens when you leave a planked hull on the side yard and get 100 plus temps in the summer? A ruined hull. I basically flushed a few hundred bucks worth of quality wood down the drain. I still have one hull half laid up, but with my dads illness and the herd of kids in the house, it got sidelined. I hope to try and work on it later this winter. In the meantime, projects like this and a big addition of frond deeks to my rig have taken most of my project time. Hope all is well. D-

Derek,

boat has come a long way, I recently purchased this spotlight from cabellas and plan on mounting it on my grab bar.

Seems to be plenty bright, rotates close to 360 degrees and is removable from it's saddle. I also upgraded my driving lights on the front of my boat but as you will agree those lights are mostly for show and don't work as well as handheld spotlights when driving in open waters.

Good luck getting it done.

Derek,

Don't forget to install an "oh shit handles" for the driver and passengers of that boat. That 35 MB will get that boat cookin' down river in no time. My hunting partner was trying out his buddies 35 MB on a 14 foot jon boat and almost dumped himself into the lake when he put it in gear, LOL! I wish I could've been there to see that:)

Hello Gene.

My father was born and raised in Lancaster co PA. Do you know anybody by the last name Auman?

Donuts??? did someone say donuts? No i never eat the yummie littel things myself!

Ed,

Sorry, I don't know anybody by that name. Do you still have relatives in the area? Sadly the area isn't what it used to be. I live in an old farm house on five acres. I bought it from a developer and as I sit here I can see two new neighbors I didn't have when we moved in and a third house going up behind me where my archery stand was last year. I'll always have my land but I was getting used to having the run of the farm before they got the lots sold off!

Greg-
