face paint

As we get cold weather again, I am once again struggling with my glasses fogging up if my facemask covers my nose. Doesn't do much good to wear a facemask if it only covers half your face. With the risk of looking like a racoon I am considering using face paint on my cheek bones and around my eyes.

Anone use face paint? Which brand? How hard is it to get off?

Thanks

I've used face paint that comes in a "compact" similar to a ladies compact and also from the tubes. I prefer the paint from the tubes because it is easier to remove. I used to use several colors in the past, but you really only need dark brown or black. Noxzema (sp?) face cream does a good job of removing what soap doesn't when it comes time to clean up.

I carry a lighter and an old wine cork. When we're at the boat ramp I burn one end of the cork and use it like a marker to darken my face and reduce shine. You have to burn the cork several times to finish, but its easy and washes off with water at the end of the day.

Go Clones!

Use it every time I can get the kids to go! They love it! have the H.S. compact. It is kinda of a pain to clean up afterward though.

Oh and make sure you hit the EARS

Be careful how you clean up after the hunt. I got a really bad case of dermatitis from the compact stuff a few years ago. Maybe you should throw away the unused stuff after 1 season's use. For about 2 months my face looked like I was a teenager again.

I now use a light weight Turkey net and have no problems with fogging my glasses. I wear Decot HY Wide glasses in target orange, Gonna have to get new lenses soon as my prescription has changed.

Hope you can fix the fogging problem.

Best,
Harry

Craig,

Try the tube type next time you need to replenish your supply. I think you will find it cleans up easier. I don't use the face paint much anymore. The glasses fogging is not an issue now that I switched to wearing contacts when hunting. I was always going to check a theatrical supply house for a possible cheaper source. I'll bet you could mail order any color(s) you can imagine. I'm sure they would have a product used for cleanup afterward too. Like I said, ladies face cream (cleansing type) works real well because the face paint is a cream based product.

I've got a couple of the compact styles ones laying around the boat & dry-box, not sure of the brands but am pretty sure one is an HS brand.
I keep a pack of baby wipes in the truck, they take a good bit off but then have to finish up with soap & water back at the house.
Same problem here, have to wear glasses, cant wear contacts.

It always cracks me up to see the Rambo face paint on guys. Just don't look up at the birds you are trying to decoy, the movement gives you away quicker than a fat white face. When I remember, I use a turkey net and leave it below my nose. The flash of glasses kinda negates anything anyway.

I use it quite a bit in Sept when bow hunting elk but almost never during duck season. Just a face net. I wear glasses so I understand about the fogging issue. I never worry about my nose shine, just don't move and they will never know your there anyway.

The tube paint is 100% better than the compacts and cleans up very well with soap and water when you want to take it off. It even cleans up great if you get it on your clothes. I won't use the compact stuff anymore unless it is the very last thing available, even the powdered stuff is better.

As far as fogging is concerned here is a tip. When I was a kid back in the 50's & 60's we used bar soap to prevent fogging. Rub it all over the lenses then polish them bright again with a clean, dry cloth. No more fogging when you come inside after being out in the cold.

I have the same problem, but I found this stuff at a ski shop in vermont called Cat Crap that is an anti fog stuff,I know the name is a little wierd to say the least, but it works great you just wipe in on with your finger then buff it off with a soft cloth the stuff works great on ski goggels or glasses

I like the army surplus stuff. It's less greasy, and less shiny. Most the time I use a head net with holes cut for the eyes, and sewn around sunglasses frames with the lenses popped out. The frames are big enough to go over regular glasses. When you turn your head, the head net turns with you, so you're not looking out where your ear used to be.
I screwed up the courage to have lasik surgery done last year. Best money I've ever spent. I've had to wear glasses since the 4th grade, now I only have to wear them to read.

I have the exact same probelm with my glasses. 1st off I can say that the dry soap on the lense works. But I have used a new product that I think is great. Get the Primos face mast. It is a tight and stretchy material. I used one this weekend. You can put the nose section on top of your nose in stead of wrapping under where the nostrils are. You will thank me. I did not fog up and it was 30 degrees in Upstate this weekend and I was setting out over 100 decoys and running back to the blind after picking up crips... No fog. I like the new duck blind camo pattern.
