All~

Well, I made it down to Long Island with a car-full of "stuff" for the Long Island Decoy Collectors Show - mostly for the CONTEMPORARY DECOY EXHIBITION - a new feature of the Show.

I cannot show you any pictures of entries YET - because the "peoples' choice" voting does not commence until about 10 AM tomorrow. But, we will be photographing - individual portraits by Ray Geminski - EVERY entry, and then posting them all on the web. I hope to take a bunch of less formal pictures throughout the Show - IF I can get away from the administration desk - and post them tomorrow night. The more formal photos will be awhile before posting.

We already have about 20 birds entered - many from duckboats.net members - and will be registering "walk-ins" tomorrow morning. Since we have never done this before, the administration comes with its share of anxiety. Let's hope there are no big unforeseen problems....

More info at: http://lidecoycollectors.org/lidca-contemporary-decoy-exhibition/

The 1-day Show is at the IBEW Hall #25 on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge - just north of the LI Expressway (I-495) in Suffolk County - from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is $7 (free parking on-site). Get there before 2:00 if you want to vote on the decoys.

Hope to see you there!

Steve & Greg:
Great Show, enjoyed the new addition of people choice awards decoy contest. Always enjoy your input. Nice to see our Duck Hunting Heritage !!!!!!!!!

I was at the show with my grandson, as usual. Steve, I think that you and Craig hit a home run with this one! Nice entries all around. Loved the burnt cork black ducks, classic Long Island blocks! Sorry I missed you. Always look forward to seeing you and your latest project.

Good morning, Gents~

I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Show. Although I was running around like the proverbial One-armed Paper Hanger - I was able to meet some duckboats.net members - and spend a few minutes with others. I really appreciate everyone's participation.

I am adding a bunch of Show photos to Anthony Babich's post. The individual portraits of the 106 entries will be posted in a week or more.

All the best,

SJS
