Feeling Human Again

Got nailed by Covid ten days ago and today is the first day I've not felt like death warmed over. Longest I've not gone to the shop since I built it. I've been sweating it out because I'm moving my daughter into her dorm on Wednesday. There was a point where I thought she'd have to move herself in. Damn plague took out my wife and oldest son too. Well after a sweat session at the shop tonight I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get Caroline settled in.

Felt so much better I shot a quick video at the shop tonight. I've finished the heart pine floor and ceiling milling project and have moved onto making the poplar shiplap. First step is straight-lining the boards and then I'll plane and mill the rabbets.

Sorry to hear it, was this your first time with Covid?
Recent reports say cases have been steadily rising during all of July. Postive cases and hospitalizations are up.
Where is Caroline headed? Does this mean you're an empty nester?

Yep, first Covid rodeo. Never again, I hope. She's headed to Auburn. Not an empty nester yet. Andrew is at home, and Thomas is too. Thomas would rather save money for hunting property than a first house. I figure he'll move into the upstairs at the shop when it is done and stay there until he gets his first house. No need to rent when you have free space. Long term that space is for Andrew. That's the main reason for creating it. Looking way down the road, Andrew will have a place to live, and Thomas and Caroline will make sure he's okay.

Eric, I'm out on Long Island, 30 miles from Montauk. Covid has started up here again and filling up the hospital again. Try to cool it a little, my buddy got it 3 times, really took a toll on his body. Stay healthy.

Ah, forgot you have 3!

Glad to hear she picked the correct university!

Phew, I haven't gotten it that I know of, but Jen has had it twice in the past few months.

Glad you are feeling better. I saw your video on Instagram and am sooo jealous of your workshop!

best wishes.

I had it in the middle of July and it was horrible. Started off with a toothache which then turned into a neck and and I went downhill from there. I had every symptom you could imagine, but the constant cough and congestion, which I still have a little of, was the worst. All I can say is thank heavens I got Paxlovid. Without it I'm pretty sure I might have been going to the hospital, and I've been vaccinated 4 times. The stuff is here to stay unfortunately.

Yup.

Got it the first time last March. Paxlovid the first day helped but the up and down days of the fatigue still lingers. Had 4 vaccines, 4th one gave us very bad brain fog. Dr. told us then ya must of had it already, and not known it.

my 2 cents

I had it this past March for the first time. Mostly heavy fatigue and some chills. Flu I had last fall was much worse, I was as sick as I can remember ever being.

Thanks again. Every day is better although I feel a bit empty this morning. Yesterday I moved my youngest into her dorm room. It was a sixteen hour day including travel. She is very well prepared to tackle the challenges that await her at Auburn, but I must admit I've been fighting back the tears. Hits hard when you drive away from the dorm parking lot knowing your youngest is on their own and the years went too fast.

My two daughters went to college local, but I can still relate. It was hard to see my youngest get married.

PS Eric, I'm using "Edge" to post this.

I remember taking my daughter to Michigan State, getting her set in her dorm, and leaving that evening for the drive back to NJ. It was the end of something but the start of something else. Which is what life is like. There is a great part of that and a wistful part. If you didn't have that feeling something would be out of kilter.

You can brew your own Hydroxychloroquine by boiling down a bunch of grapefruit peels for 45 minutes or so. It tastes bitter, but has the same compounds of the pharmaceutical grade stuff that is a proven remedy.
