Yes. try to overlap in a "natural" place such as the keel area, or where the hull meets the sides of the boat as you'll want to put a double layer on the sides/hull area anyway for abrasion resistance.
in other words, if you overlap two pieces in the middle of the left side of the hull for ex., you'll fair that area and therefore one side of the hull will have a disproportionate amount of epoxy and a slight bump, (i.e. after you "skim coat" the bump where the tow pieces meet) it can't be helped.
