Finally, Today was a good day for me

Gobble,Gobble,Gobble, I finally got one. It isn't a monster and has an 8 inch beard but after three years my frustrations are over. I think I did everything wrong possible for the last three years. Now I can go try for number 2. My day started out at 3:15 am. Drove to the woods and got set up by 4:30. Poured buckets for the first four hours. Nothing stiring at all. The clouds lifted a bit and I made a move. Got set up and this guy and a jake came in. It seemed like it was never going to happen. I was sooooo excited. I need some must needed rest. Went to bed at midnight last night. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration Jode.

I was talking to a friend last evening and he said persistence has killed more Turkey's than any call ever made! It seems that fits the bill here.

congrats on your first bird he as got some nice markings, the only turkeys we get over here are the drugies when they try to go clean and they have to go cold turkey.

Gary, Great, nice bird! But a thought: We both know that nothing tops your redheads over decoys, but that old gobbler at dawn is VERY close. Luckly waterfowling and turkeys take place at different time frames, otherwise it would be difficult to choose which is best. While my personal overall nod goes to waterfowl, there have been mornings when I worked especially hard for a gobbler, and got it, that briefly nothing seems better. Hope you have many more such mornings. Best, Worth

I havent been out yet. Went to Portland Springer fishing on the opener. We only caught one, but it was a beaut.

I share your pain Gary. I waited 7 years and this year was the year. Mine only had a five inch beard but after 7 years, I got a beard in my sights and took it. Get the big beard next year... Congrats Brother! Pat
