First "Bull"

Went slumming this weekend in Arkansas for puddlers. Since things are slow around home with the divers I decided to try my hand with the oh so illusive Pintails. This duck has illuded me for going on ten years now. Countless thousands of dollars spent on guided hunts that have ended up "sprigless," not this time, the year long lease finally paid off. A group of 12 comes in and 11 goes out. Group I was with let me pick the drake and fire the shot heard round the world. Holy Cow Todd finally got his Pintail. To top things off I went back to the same pit this morning and got a nice hen to go in the mount, so I will have a nice pair mounted. Slow all around for the weekend but this one bird made my season.

First "Bull Sprig." Very happy hunter

Nice bull sprig. I've shot my fair share of pintails, but never a late season mature one. You did good.

Congratulations. I didn't know you were still in the hunt for drake pintail. Not that I could have helped you find one becuase they are probably among the toughest to find on public land around here. Heck, as you know cans are way easier than pins.

Give me a call sometime soon. We've got some catching up and some notes to compare.
