Fish Taxidermy... very NDR..

A friend is heading to Mexico for a fishing trip and he is wanting to have a fish mounted for his trophy room. It has been 25+ years since I have had any fish done, and am out of touch. It is my understanding that now you can take pictures of your fish and a taxidermist can do a cast replica mount??

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good taxidermist who strictly does fish??

Thank you in advance,
Steve

Absolutly, he can catch he fish of a lifetime, let it go and have it mounted. Fish Unlimited here on Long Island does a great job. Where ever he goes in Mexico, I'd be willing to bet the boat he is fishing on is an agent for anyone of a hundred taxidermist that will do a great job. I have a fiberglass mount of a 67 pound Striper that one of my clients caught in the early 80's that I've been taking to shows since then, it has thousands of miles of travel on it and looks just as good as it did when it was new.

Popp Taxidermy, he is just south of LaCrosse. He does not do only finsh ... but is amazing.... 608-792-5801

What ever you do don't leave a fish in Mexico to be shipped to you when done - The story of a 72 lb. Rooster Fish is to long to tell but it was a nightmare.....

king sailfish mounts out of florida sells awesome cast replicas. Tell your guy to bring a soft roll up tape measure and get length and girth of whatever he plans to mount. a glass mount will last forever.

Yep, what Kris said......
Get good pics with the tape measure in the picture if you can.

Jerrie, good to see you here too. Any chance you would give a little show and tell of your boat you built? Tolman center counsel right? I bet a few guys would be interested.

I agree with Chessie boy, that guy does do nice fish. I have seen some of them.

I actually just received a puppy drum replica I had done by Mount This Fish Company in Florida. I'm very pleased with it. It took them about 6 weeks to get it to me after I placed my order. You can email them pictures of your fish and they will paint it to look just like the one you caught. I looked around the web awhile and found a variety of places offering the same service. Anyway, I like mine so I'd say these guys are good to go.
