flank feathers

ok- one of the things i have always wanted to learn to do is tie full dress salmon flies

My hairwings and simple feather wings are fine and catch fish-

but when I try married wings- they get divorced

so- i found a book/DVD set that teaches the process in a series of twenty increasingly complex flies -each building on the other's techniques

next - I have gone through the required materials list and my materials chest's inventory

and whatta ya know

there are patterns calling for widgeon and pintail flank feathers
did I save any from the one widgeon I shot this year- of course not,

I can buy pintail from the fly tying material dealers- but cannot find widgeon on any suppliers list

so for any of you folks still enjoying a duck season- if you shoot a drake widgeon that you won't be having mounted, please let me know if could we work out a deal for a handful of flank feathers - i would need some from the same area of both side to match them up

thanks
Rick

Rick,
Sorry, but I have shot a few nice drake wigeon this year. Didn't know the feathers were needed. If I am able to get more, I will mail them to you. Also, if you are interested in wood duck bars, I have a bag of them. If so, please send me your mailing address and I will get them off to you. Best, Worth Mathewson

Odds are slim on either but I will save you one if I do shoot one of either!

i only need a couple dozen - left and rights separate would be great -

but absolutely not required- I should be able to figure that out when pairing by size

thanks

Pintail would be great as well, I do have a little bit of teal saved, but more would be good.

so far i have not seen a pattern using Cans -hmm?

Rick I have your pinnie feathers! Pm me with an address.
