Florida opening day Teal and Wood duck

The little boogers are here! What a fun morning. Saw Wood ducks but the Teal decoyed. Believe it or not, it was cool with a breeze with nice flocks of Teal here now. I'll be out at least one more day and will rotate in the Furias, Smiths and the Gregorys next time. Hitch

Who's alert drake on the right of the pile? You know I am partial to high heads. Can I get a good pic of it?

Thanks guys! Been out working on the airboat all day doing maintenance. Teal season is as much for shaking out all the kinks as it is to go hunting, some years anyway.

The Bluewing and the Greenwing drake in front, and the preening greenwing in the very back are Jode Hillman decoys. I also have a preening hen bluewing by Jode as well that was still out in the spread when I took this photo. Sleeper drake is by James Romig.

The high head Bluewing drake is by Capt. Russell Owen of SC (also guides Kings in Alaska). Here is another photo of the Owen drake, very original pose and it self rights and rides very nice in the water.

I love that decoy. Very cool pose. I am out in the AM again. I will be taking out 3 hunters so the A-5 will stay in the comfort of the gun safe at home while I debut my 60D in the marsh

I have a meeting at work I have to be there for, but I will be back out Tuesday morning, and maybe Wednesday too. Rex the Springer will be going with me this time.

Sometimes I buy a decoy just because I love it. It's kinda like a swan pose, and I haven't seen teal do it, but I have seen Pintail drakes do it when they fight. Of course since there was a bathroom handy at the hotel in Westlake, I made sure it looked good in the water before I packed it to go home with me. I threw it out just like all the others and it self-rights. A cool decoy to be sure.

Good luck Ron. Try shooting some Video with the 60D. It shoots HD video - I'm pretty sure.

Great hunt Hitch, love the decoys! We still have plenty of them up here as well. Was suprised that the majority of our northern Wisconsin bag was full of the blue wings this past weekend.

Thanks guys. I'll be back out again Wednesday. Change in plans again, have to go to work tomorrow. Pat, I love the stuff you sent me. Great early season for you. Very cool. Hitch

Hitch,

Looking good down there. Like all the different styles in decoys shown. How are the little kevlar boats holding up you guys built a couple of years ago?

They work great Ed. They are carbon fiber and about 40 lbs. I now have 3 and Capt. Scott has 4.
