Thinking about adding a fuel/water separator with replaceable cartridge to the duck boat.
Is there a size or brand that is better with small engines?
I am running a 2003 Merc 25hp 2 stroke.
Thanks!

There are lots of good ones out carl just make sure you get at least a 10 micron filter that will really help and I use two bulbs one going to the filter and one from filter to motor you just never know what can happen.

Any good marine store. Tell them it's for a 25hp. I like them with the water separator on the bottom, with the drain. I keep a new filter sealed with a food saver in case.
I use the food saver to seal tools, extra clothes, expired flares and extra stuff that doesn't have to be in a dry can.

We've found that any of the separators that have the plastic bowl with the drain on the bottom tend to swell up with the ethanol in the fuel, making them almost impossible to re-use.

You might live in an area with ethanol free gas, not so lucky for us in the wonderful state of NJ. Just something to think about.

I use the 10 micron Racor unit with the plastic see through bowl. It's expensive, but since using it I hav'nt had any issues with water, or ethanol corrosion, the boat is used year round commercial fishing. Also have been reusing the plastic bowl for years with no problems, just lube up the new O ring when replacing the filter element.

Carl,
I had a fuel separator on my Whaler for a while. It worked but I found it more reliable to simply use a device called an Easy Siphon. I siphon out unused gas from my boat into my car/truck.

That way I always have fresh gas for my boat.

I run Racor's with the aluminum lower bowl & peacock on all of my boats.

And yes, the ethonol does fog up & swell the plastic bowl.
