ga duck hunting

Hey guys haven't posted in a while. Anyway anyone know of any kind of waterfowl hunting in Ga. Been online and haven't found anything that looks promising.

I was in Southeast Ga. for the opener hunting a 3 acres farm pond. I shot three woodies. There's been a servere drought in the southeast, no water in the rivers. Alot of the small creeeks are dry as well as farm ponds. Had a friend float the Oconee River in Glenwood, Ga and only saw three ducks. I'm back in Florida now waiting on the opener to hunt Lake Okeechobee.

Whatcha doing in GA John? Season re-opens here again on Monday, 3 days of cloudy rainy weather forecasted to start the week....

Lake Seminole used to be fantastic for ringnecks and cans. But I have not heard a report from there in years.

down here for the winter chris...made a bunch of trips for seaducks early on shot a ton of birds and had some great laughs with the buddies, but it came time for me to migrate south. I will look into lake seminole any other puddler suggestions

YOu might also want to check out Eufaula NWR and Lake Walter F. George. http://www.fws.gov/eufaula/

Also, driving down to coastal FL might be a good bet:

Todd posts here every now & then: http://www.backbayadventures.com/

Lots of other coastal bays that should hold lots of divers down that way too.

I have heard that there is good scoter shooting on the Atlantic coast side of GA but have no experience with it.

im in north ga. looked at lake lanier have seen quite a few geese and a few mallards and in speaking to a few locals im told to not waste my time. I dont believe this is bs on trying to keep me out of their lake. Ive scouted hard and havent seen any real numbers of birds. Looked into seminole lake that would be like a seven hour drive, thanks for the advice. Have thought about alabama but was really looking for something a little closer to home

Not lots of ducks in lower al, ga etc. I hunt Seminole and it can be good for divers. I have hunted Eufaula and it is about the same as Lanier unless your on the refuge. I have started hunting the coastal marshes and bays in Florida, much better hunting. Try Tennessee, Realfoot lake or travel over to Carolinas. I hope u have some luck.

John, I live near lake hartwell that borders SC and GA you can go and see ducks but the problem is all the private impoundments around. A couple years ago one impound in GA wintered near 20,000 ducks one in SC about 17,000 they were in competion to see who could winter the most waterfowl. I have seen 2 to 3 thousand birds flying high and never pulled the trigger on the lake. But if you are willing to fight the young kids welcome to lake hartwell. I hardly ever go there any more. If you decide to go good luck but be careful if you go near the dam the water can get very rough out there and change really quick.
