Donald, have you ever seen Geoff's rig from a distance on the water? Those scoters at the water line must look great. Does the boat outline disappear?
Mike

take care donald- geoff make the decoys- i have the boat- but he can shoot like a bugger!!!

I really like that boat. Looks like what one would expect to see on the east coast. I'm sure it is an outdated image I have in my head but it is comforting knowing someone still hunts that way.

tim- i learned things this way- if it aint broke -don't fix it- my grandfather and my dad gunned this way- its a safe rig- and if the motor dies- i can row it- as anyone with a TDB type rig if thay can row there boat back a few miles? i have it in 6- 10 foot seas- for real- and made it home- i run a 9.9 outboard- 3 guys couple dozen decoys- guns the works and its comfy- and most of all safe-

Tale care-

Donald, one thing about an "armstrong motor"; they always start!

I have to admit your pics got me excited. A friend just built a 19" dory (square back), and I traded some decoys for it. Planning on rigging it this summer. How wide is yours that you can use oars and how long are the oars? The boat I picked up is 7 1/2 feet with high sides, and I thought it was to big to row (unless you had an oarsman on each side and a guy beating a drum!).

Mike

hi- its 22 foot over all- 6 foot wide- and the oars are 10 foot- i stand up and push row-

Donald

yes- its a banks dory- with a motor well way aft- its made just like the fishing dorys-

18 LOB- 22 LOA-
rows well- and rides so much better with a load on than empty-
