Getting ready: putting out the corn.

whats the bag limit on corn these days? we usually just chop the stuff but if you want to do the whole fair chase thing then go ahead. haha
im not sure i would think if you put out a bunch of yellow "kornfety" paper or plastic that it would work better then cobbs.

try it and let us know

Wow, for that money you could buy a whole bag of cracked corn at the elevator. I think I'd rather have Scott O's genuine imitation paper mach'e corn cobs cause...life's to short to hunt over plastic.

Ditto that.

In some states anything you put out that looks like food is considered bait even if artificial. They probably can't wear this while goose hunting.

The decoy carver's on the site are going to be upset if you use plastic. Better off for your reputation if you carve them out of wood. Besides with all the lead in the paint from the China "get the lead out Sutton" will get upset. Now we don't want that to happen.

Lead in stuff like childrens toys, baby cribs, Barbie Dolls, or house paint.....what I said was I have a problem with shooting lead into animals with no regard to the secondary mortality that it leads to.....which means, of course, that I like animals better than I like people......

It's kind of like "recoil reduction" to me.....if you beleive the hype you could install about 10 different devices on your shotgun, each of which would reduce the recoil by "MORE THAN 10%".....in the end you'd have to tape the gun to your hands to keep the thing from jumping forards out of your hands......how does this apply?.....well people gotta die of something or we'll soon have to drain more swamps for homes and plow more CRP for corn for fuel.....in the end if we get all the lead out of products that are "consumed by people" then fewer people will die.....can't have that.....nope.....can't have it....

So FEEL FREE to paint the house with lead based paint, buy all the Chinese mfg'ed toys you want, heck smoke a few more cigarettes while you at it. And drink, drink alot, (just don't do it on the road cause I might just be driving by on my way to one of te remaing wetlands that will soon disappear as a result of too damned few people dying from lead poisioning...

Cheers......

Steve, you're opposed to unleaded paint? I missed that one. With all these things like lead in paint, cigarettes, alcohol, fat and lazy (i.e. MJ), etc, would be no problem if they just outright killed folks with no warning, have a funeral that's it. Problem is, lead toxicity causes developmental problems with kids, which costs you and I major bucks, so it's worth it to do what we can to expose as few children to as little lead as possible. Probably doesn't outright kill hardly anybody. Cigarettes, same sort of thing, a very expensive habit, most of the costs being born by taxpayers paying for all those stents, bypasses, nursing homes and chemotherapy. Finally you do die from it, but only after spending several hundred thousand. Cannabis is probably costing us more than cigarettes to be honest. Hardly ever see a drug screen that's negative for MJ and this is Mississippi. Cannabis = fat & lazy, and that's what's really ailing America. So here you go, I've taken the discussion from plastic corn to dope. How'd that happen?

the reference made about me being Steve, "GET THE LEAD OUT", Sutton.......an attempt at some humor that does make it seem I could "care less" which isn't true.....

I would say that I don't think it should be the "Governments Job" to take over for parents being responsible enough to look at a toy and say to themselves....."hmmmm magnets...small...can be removed...can be swallowed....not good for little Ed who will eat anything from dog poop to rocks...DO NOT BUY" but clearly parents EXPECT the Government to do their jobs for them, and will sue them when they don't, so thats inevitable.....

The lead thing is different and my "point" albeit reached for in a most obtuse manner was that if lead is "bad" for people then its "bad" for animals as well....and that when we can remove it we should......(had you seen an older post on "removal of lead NOT being an attempt to take away our right to own guns it MIGHT have made more sense)....

If you take 10% away 10 times you still have about 35% of the recoil. See they work. You just don't understand about felt recoil, perceived recoil and actual recoil. They're all different but the same. Physics can be that way.

I'm quite sure we all have better then a 1 in 1 chance of dying if that makes you feel better. It always amazes me how we ever won two world wars, the cold war and developed into the most advanced nation in the world all the while having lead paint. Since the ban I'm not sure things have gotten better. Maybe the effects on those who chewed lead paint was an asset to the country. I'm sure glad nobody ever smoked or drank back then either because that would surely destroy a country.

btw thanks for clearing up which movie it was on the MLB site. Wasn't 100% sure at first it wasn't Dean Martin in the original incarnation of that movie.

Hmmm..talking about corn decoys and we didn't get honored with the pics of Steve and his crew with the magnum corncob hats? Must have et too much paint when younger.

BAAAHHHHH...nobody ever says that you have to have a degree in quantum physics to understand the effects of their "revolutionary, earth shaking, recoil reducing" product........they just say ..."pay me this much and we'll reduce your recoil 10%".....that means do it 11 times and that guns jumping in another direction to me.....DAMMITTTT I've been duped....duped I say....We're's Al Sharpton when use "math challenged White Boys" need a Champion.....

I've always liked that movie....really badly acted, (even worse than the "original" with Martin and "Rick" but still fun to watch).....

Steve

The reason we were able to win those world wars is that in the past our government was not responsible for supporting those who could not or would not support themselves, and so what if a few kids ate lead paint and turned out not to be so smart, they could just fill out the ranks of unskilled labour. We probably would loose similar conflicts today. There would be no problem giving parents the responsibility for screening the toys they gave their children themselves, except that many of them are less responsible than their own children, and they are not on the hook for the cost of raising them, or for taking care of medical expenses when they are injured, but you and I are.

Ed.

or put another way....what AREN'T those of us who work responsible for that people who don't work screw up? And you can switch work and don't work with "responsible" and "not responsible" if you want to.....

Steve

Steve,

I agree with the professor...

Since I'm bored, heres the math:

100%-10%=90%=.90

Reduce it 10% ten times, you compound the reduction:

.90^10 = .34867

:)

You DO realize that those paint-chewin' rug rats born of the "Greatest Generation" turned into the drug-riddled hippies of the 60's that: haven't allowed an oil refinery to be built for 30+ years, are against nuke power, are too stupid to realize that vegetarianism results in animal death by altering/destroying habitat...

You didn't have lead paint in the house when you were a kid, did you??? bwahaha

Don't make fun of Steve's math, he's a salesman, not an engineer! hehehe

but crimeny, I am not going to go down the road of all of that lead paint related Algebra...

As the global point man for the world-reknowned yet infamous Genuine Artificial Fake Paper Mache Corn Decoy, I can say without reservation that corn decoys work. They add color and contrast against the dark earth background.

Now I wouldn't want to characterize geese as a bunch of lead paint eaters but I am pretty sure they aren't doing much real heavy thinking when they come into these decoys. They just see food.

We arrange them in groups of 15 or 20, like silage that spilled off the wagon, and throw a few dozen more in the field like the ones the picker missed (as they do)
