Glass eyes

Kevin, I get mine from willy at the duck blind. He will have them at Strongsville if you can wait a month.

Can't wait a month! Lol. Heck I can barely wait for the mastic to dry.

Didn't realize how expensive they were!

Kevin: I have some clear glass 10 mm eyes on wires which will work well for most diver/puddle ducks. All you have to do is paint the backs of the eyes with the correct color, the black pupils are already there. Send me a PM with your address, I'll mail them out to you at no charge. They will work fine for gunning decoys.

Thanks Ken. Message sent.

The tohickon eyes aren't as much as I initial thought, I was looking in the wrong spot. But I can tell I could rack up a heck of a bill on eyes really quickly no matter where I go!

Kevin~

I use mckenzie - which had been Van Dyke's Taxidermy Supply. I like good glass eyes (usually less than $2 per bird) BUT - there's nothing wrong with a painted eye or tacks, etc. I am using bronze boat nails in a Broadbill Flyer I'm working on now. AND, you don't even need glossy paint. All my Herters Model 72s just get FLAT Yellow or Red. And, there are many birds that really need no eyes at all, in my opinion.

The scientist in me always asks about gunning birds or duckboats or clothing: Will I REALLY shoot any fewer birds if I (fill in the blank).

Steve, the eyes are definitely more for me than the birds. I am having to remind myself everytime I try to add a detail or worry about symmetry and color that I am setting out to make a GUNNING rig. Lol.

I would like to use glass eyes though. Or painted tacks. I really want the eyes to pop. I have a few coming from a member here and ordered a very small quanitity from tohickon last night.

I will look at the Mackenzie's next, price sounds good to me!
Thanks for everyone's help.

I use Schoepfer eyes in clear and paint them with Krylon. I haven't bought any in a long while but they did give discounts the more you buy. I normally order a 100 pairs at a time.
