goose'n w/ the boys

Yesterday I went for geese with two of my uncles and my one cousin. My one uncle and cousin are die hard goose hunters, in the fields. I get an invite once or twice a year to go along as they have many others that want to go along as well. In the morning we had one flurry of activity with three flocks working at once that ended with six birds down. Sorry no pictures.

As we were packing up, my cousin asked if I wanted to go again in the evening. I'm always game so we made plans for the evening and decided to bring our boys along, my Luke is 4 and his boy is 6 and their birthdays are one day apart.

Later that day...

After a poor display of shooting we scratched two out of a nice flock that worked well. Only action for the evening but we had a great show from the ducks working back to a neighboring pond. The boys had a good time and are looking forward to the next "little guy" hunt since they don't get to go on the "big guy only" hunts.

Gene, that's some well trained retrievers you got there, haha. I bet they loved every minute of it.

Hey, i finished my keelsons and tested them this morning. They're awesome! I highly recommend them. I could actually accelerate through a turn. They were attached with 5200, sealed with Helmsman spar urethane and finsihed with aluminum strips. did it all on the trailer. My leason learned is to seal the wood (except the part that gets 5200) and attached aluminum strip BEFORE attaching to the boat.

Larry,

I'm hoping to get some on mine here soon. I have to repair the keel at the bow where it rubbed on some clam beds last year. It has the gel coat completely worn through. That will be a good time to get some keelsons on. I'll remember to make the keelsons compleyely before installing. I'm sure I would have done it the same as you without the tip, THANKS!

The boys did get a bit bored because we wouldn't let the stray to far from the blind. We thought they would occupy each other, which they did, but not in many ways we could allow them to keep doing! More food, drinks and toys next time.

Best wishes,
Gene
