Got my first covid shot on saturday

Good to hear it! In my understanding we are in group 1B, so hopefully we can get ours soon.

Good for you! You and my high school swim coach are the first I have heard of other than health care professionals to get it.

Tod--I'm in 1B, too, along with my wife, mother and about half the people I know. I think the trickle down to all of us in 1B will take a while.

Decoy Monster Machine,

Good for You!

Even though I'm in the get it now group, appears it will be awhile out here in the sticks.

I do like Chinese take out, but my heart does not. HHEeeeeeHHHEeeeeeHHHHeeeeeee

You just need the right take out. Steamed chicken and veggies over brown rice with low sodium soy sauce, right?

Was suppose to get mine this afternoon at Tidal Health(PRMC). They called me 10:45 am today and told me they had to reschedule and to go to my MYCHART account to do that. Of course the MYCHART site was down upon trying to reschedule. Finally got it set up for next monday afternoon. Wife and middle son have already received first round shots and no ill effects other than usual slight muscle soreness from injection.

Got mine thursday, friend had a appointment and was told there were some extras. Called me and the wife and myself jumped in the car, 4 minute drive and go to register. Took a total of 2 1/2 hours, start to finish.
NY state has it all messed up. Still don't have 10% of the fire department with shots.
My Dad said, if the government ran crime, even crime wouldn't pay... Smart man.

George, congratulations, good to hear the vaccne rollout is starting to gain some steam! One question, are they making your follow-up appointment for the booster dose in three weeks while you are there? Our Health Department is not, which is incredibly stupid since this would accomplish two things: 1.) Encourage better com.pliance to follow-through and get maximum Igg titer value. 2.) Doing this keeps vaccinees in compliance with the trial data protocols for both these two mRNA vaccines. By making two separate appointments, some vaccinees will be "lost" and the probability of replicating Clinical Trial vaccination interval is put at risk to get the second dose.

Capt. Rich the government(Federal) never coordinated with the States beyond bulk shipment sites that would receive the vaccine and then left the States to fund, coordinate full distribution, and find inoculation personnel, all with no cooperation, co-planning, and funding. For some ODD reason, the States seem to be strapped for cash right now. Oh , that's right they have been funding fighting the pandemic out of their individual budgets for nearly tweve months!

We are now approaching the four hundred thousand dead in one year, very nearly the civilian and military death toll for the United States for all of World War II.

ps George I am just finishing a batch of home made hot n'sour soup 5 to be paired with sesame chicken, peppers, and broccoli, if you want to make the drive!

Good for you George. My wife got her initial shot 2 weeks ago as she works in the local hospital system. Not knowing if one can still transmit covid-19 after being vaccinated we're hoping I can get one soon as well. That's funny my wife asked me to go for Chinese a couple of nights ago.

I have a couple of friends who are the same age as me (60) and both work in the medical field. Their experience was something to possibly be mindful of.

First shot for both went well. Second shot not so well. Both suffered an extreme reaction within a short period of time after being injected. One of the two was trying to yell for help but was unable due to his throat closing in on him. He had an epi pen and used it and thankfully that stopped him from being in a very bad place. The other also suffered an extreme allergic reaction to the second shot.

Not screaming "the sky is falling" nor am I against vaccinations. Just passing this info along. Both were told that there have been instances where some who are susceptible to something as simple as bee stings may have an allergic reaction. One of the two were allergic to bee stings. Might want to talk to your doc prior to getting the shot if you are in a similar situation.

One point of warning: When you schedule your appointment, if you do it online, make sure the link is on a secure server. Marquette County Health Department has held two appointment scheduling intervals for vaccination. The first 845 vaccination slots were scheduled within the first 30 seconds of availability. The second battery of vaccination appointments ran for all of three minutes prior all 1,200 slots being booked. Neither of these links used a secure server, which consequently lead to hundreds of attempted or successful hacks of folks simply trying to lower their disease acquisition risks due to age and concomitant conditions.

Now that we know that there is no reserve stockpile of vaccine, a couple of suggestions: 1.) For 1B tier workers, employers should submit a request to their county health department enumerating number of potential vaccinees, since appointments will be scheduled by employer entity. 2.) County health departments should be encouraged to establish a registration list for vaccinees who fit the 65 and up criteria, with enumeration of additional risk factors for each vaccinee that will enable health departments to rank vaccination appointments based on risk and priority. 3..) Dual registration for vaccine and booster should be included, enabling health workers to reserve doses based on initial vaccination recipients numbers. All of these will better enable health department and health clinic workers to better align all of the ancillary vials syringes, and swabs number needed in the supply chain to mesh with the vaccinations values, better aligning supplies and vaccines with receipients.

Got my first shot on 1-6. Over 65 and hospital volunteer . They really are taking care of their volunteers .

Sticker with 15 minute time was placed on my chest and we sat facing an RN watching us for reaction.

Neighbor and daughter got second shot last week. CVS who is vaccinating nursing homes thawed out to much. Both work at a CVS pharmacy daughter 18 had reaction fever 103.2 headache etc for 24 hours.

This is new guidance from the CDC on booster dose window alteration. The agency also said that in ?exceptional situations,? patients may switch from one of the authorized vaccines to the other between the first and second doses.
The recommended interval between doses is three weeks for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and four weeks for Moderna?s.
?The second dose should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible,? according to guidance updated Thursday. But if it is not feasible to get the second dose in that period, the CDC says a second shot may be scheduled ?up to 6 weeks (42 days)? after the first shot.
?We?re just ensuring clinicians that if they can?t do it at exactly 21 days or 28 days, that there?s leeway or flexibility,? CDC spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund said.

I know I don't contribute here very often, but I got my second dose on Wednesday. I had almost no reaction to the first shot other than soreness at the injection site for a couple of days. The second one was definitely worse - REALLY sore at the injection site and almost 2 days of feeling like I was coming down with the flu or something. Thankfully, it's all over now and (assuming it works), it was worth it.

Good heads up Mark W. I am severely allergic to certain bee stings (mud wasp), but not others (paper wasp and yellowjacket). Something for me to keep in mind when my turn comes around. I am not in the cue for a while, and it's likely the J&J and Astra-Zeneca product to be available by then, which I am more favorable to taking.

My parents have both taken the existing vaccine and have had no ill effects( ages 90 and 91). I personally don't consider a sore arm an ill effect, as I get that with a flu shot anyway.

These data may impact how States opt to go forward in their vaccination programs:

Received my second shot and it kicked my a__. Had pain in my back and arm for four days. Wife achy like the flu for 4-5 days. Tough on my old body.
Still glad we got the shots.

Got the first Moderna vaccine over a week ago. Arm hurt for two days. Since then I have had such a increase of energy that I'm bouncing off the walls, and feel very good.

Get the booster shot in March, and will see what happens.

Very thankful for the vaccine.

I doubt very much that it can be worse than the new Shingles vaccine, second shot. I was in bed with a fever for three days, and then got Vertigo afterwards. Of all the vaccines I've had in my life, that one was the worst. But so far, no Shingles... [smile]

My Wife and daughter received their 2nd shots last week . Daughter had a reaction within 15 minutes but fine now. Wife, 2 days feeling sleep ,fever and little sore. I get my 1st shot April 4th. Daughter 2.0 had the covid last May, tested positive lost her sense of smell ,otherwise fine.

2 family members have died from it

Replication of the virus is the problem. Get a shot so businesses and schools can get back to the new normal.
